Phonics/Spelling: The new list #6 will be sent home on Tuesday. The final test is on cycle day 6. This list will focus on long I words spelled with -ie or- igh, like in pie and high. Grammar: We will be learning about nouns and how they name people, places, and things. Reading: This week in our Storytown book we are reading a biography about Mia Hamm called Winners Never Quit. The focus skill is making predictions by using clues as we read Writing: We are practicing writing summaries about what we have read. We are using a graphic organizer called a shape go map to help us stay on track and write only the important parts. Math: This week we will are adding one and two digit numbers together with regrouping and no regrouping. Social Studies: We are using information in a map key to help us locate places on maps. Also we are naming and locating the seven continents on the world map.
