Warmup In pairs players take tuns shielding the ball from one another. The player in possession of the ball must try to keep their foot on the ball the while shielding from the defender. Rotate every 30 seconds. Coaching Points Can players put them body between the ball and the defender Use all surfaces of the foot to keep the ball away from the defender Can the attacking player use feints to create space to escape
Technical In pairs players dribble around their sets of cones perform skill turns around the top cones. Switch the way players are going. Coaching Points Quick pushes inbetween the cones Players should focus on their balance when turning Shielding the ball with your body when turning
Small-Sided Game Players are split into two teams. Players start with a specific movement of the cones. On the coaches command players sprint are the furthest cone and towards the soccer ball. Players attempt to turn and dribble ball back through the cones. Expanded Players are divided into two teams of four. Four goals (two goals on each half of the field) and two players from each team on each half of the field. Each team attacks a certain direction. Game starts with the coach passing (rolling the ball) into the blue player who has a white defender on his back. Blue players play 2v2 in their attacking half of the field. They attempt to shoot or dribble through either goal. If the defender (white team) win possession they must pass the ball into the coach to get a point. Coach then plays ball into the opposite half and the game continues. Game Two teams compete in a 4v4 2 goal game. Players attempt to score by dribbling through the opponents two goals (3 points) or by tapping the ball into the goal (1 point), Bonus points can be awarded by the coach for any player demonstrating good dribbling technique or making a smart soccer decision.
