Warmup On the coaches command Player A trys to beat Player B through either gate by performing a series of feints to wrong foot the defender. Players should switch roles on their next turn. 1 point is awarded to the player who gets through the gate first. Progression - each player now has a ball and the defensive player has to mirror the movements and skillz of the attacking player. Coaching Points Players should be on the balls of their feet "Toes" ready to change direction Play at multiple speeds, slight "pause" to freeze the defender Can you trick the defender?
Technical 2 Players opposite each other dribble towards the coach in the middle of the square. The players perform a skill move (stepover, scissor, Matthews, Iniesta) to the designated side (right or left of the coach). Once players exit middle of the square the next two blue players perform the same task. Coaching Points Players should look to "Push" the ball with their pinky toe or laces Quality touch to set up the skill Change of speed after the skill move to get away from defender
Small-Sided Game On the coaches command two players enter the game through gates. The coach can pass the ball to either player to start the exercise. Players score points by dribbling through 1 of the 3 gates they didn't run through to get into the game. 1 point for dribbling through a gate to the left or right. 2 points awarded for dribbling through the gate the defending player ran through. Expanded Game Players player 2v2 + a neutral (Coach). Players attemp to dribble into the other teams endzone. Once in the endzone the attacking team can either shoot on goal or dribble through the gates to score. Once a goal is scored the team that scored is off and their next group of attacking players come on the field. The defensive team stays on until they score a goal. If the ball goes out of bounds twice for the same group of players then both teams are replaced by a new group of players. 2 points for scoring a goal and a bonus point for successfully performing a skill movement. Game Two teams compete in a 4v4 2 goal game. Players attempt to score by dribbling through the opponents two goals (3 points) or by tapping the ball into the goal (1 point). Bonus points can be awarded by the coach for any player demonstrating good dribbling techniques or making smart soccer decisions.
