Dear Parents/Carers, As we approach the end of term, please find details of planned events below: Sports Day - Wednesday 01 July Weather permitting Sports Day will take place on Wednesday 01 July. All children will be taking part in the day’s events. Nursery a.m. children/Infant children are due to begin at approximately 9.15 a.m. and will go on throughout the morning session. Sports Day will continue after lunch at 1.00 p.m. with Nursery p.m./Junior sports and will go on throughout the afternoon. Thank you to the PTA who will be providing refreshments throughout the event. In case of inclement weather conditions on 01 July an alternative Sports Day has been set for Thursday 02 July. Breakfast and After School Care Our before and after school care facility is growing in popularity. If you would like to secure a place for your child for the autumn term please collect registration forms from the school office or ask to see the staff who will be happy to answer any questions you may have. For those parents who are already using the service, please ensure the staff are aware of your requirements for September, where possible. After School Care Staff can be contacted on: 07486279943. Thank you. Milk Money Collection Milk money will be payable at the start of the autumn term and the cost remains at £11.00 per term. The money is payable within the first week of the new school term. All monies should be received in school by no later than Monday 14 September. After this date milk will not be given to children for whom payments have not been received. Milk money is recorded and banked by the kitchen supervisor and not by the administration staff. When sending milk money into school please ensure that the correct money is placed in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and class. Thank you. Please note that if your child is under five years of age on the first day of term, Monday 07 September, your child will be eligible to receive free milk throughout the autumn term. Children in receipt of free school meals (not infant universal free meals) will also be entitled to receive milk free of charge.

Universal Free Meals for Reception and Infant Children Pupils in Reception class, Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to be entitled to receive a midday meal free of charge. Parents whose income is below £16,190 may wish to make an application for Pupil Premium Free Meals which will also entitle their child to free milk each term. The school will benefit from additional budget funding for every pupil who receives the Pupil Premium funding. If your child is eligible to receive a free school meal and they are in the junior years of their education, the normal system of application for free school meals still applies. Please ensure that you do apply for free school meals if you are entitled to receive them as your child will also benefit from receiving free milk, as well as our Academy benefitting from extra funding. Dinner Money For those pupils in Years 3-6, the price of a school meal remains at £2.10, £10.50 per week. Dinner money is payable in advance on the first day of the school week (usually Monday). Please send the correct payment, in an envelope marked with your child’s name and class. Thank you. Pupils in Years 3 – 6 could benefit from free meals in addition to free milk each term – Please consider applying for Pupil Premium Free Meals if your income is below £16,190 in order to benefit from free meals in addition to free milk each term. It is a quick and easy process which can be completed on line at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or by contacting pupil services at the Civic Centre via telephone on 01902 554128. Lost Property There is now a cupboard in the Quad containing lost property. Lost property will be displayed outside the main entrance at the close of school on Thursday 02 July. There many jumpers and cardigans as well as caps, shorts and coats etc. Any property that is not claimed will then be disposed of. Please do come to look at the lost property items to ensure that the property is returned to its rightful owners. As children return to school in September could I ask that you mark all items of property with your child’s name. Thank you. Further Dates for your Diary: After School Activity Clubs: 24-26 June – No Clubs due to Pioneer Residential Visit Week beginning 13 July - No activity clubs this week (Breakfast and After School Care open) Friday 03 July – Pupils will bring their Annual Report home today. Tuesday 07 July – Open Evening, 6.00 – 8.00 p.m. Parents are invited to drop in to look at pupils’ work and chat informally to teachers. Thursday 09 July – Open Evening , 3.30-6.00 p.m. – Appointments only Saturday 11 July - Summer Fete 12.00 p.m. Please join us for our Summer Fete which has a Food Festival theme this year. Wednesday 15 July – Teddy Bears’ Picnic – Fun Day to reward pupils for their good behaviour. Parents will receive a separate letter about this event. Tuesday 14 July - Year 6 Leavers’ Production – 7.00 pm This evening the children who will be leaving St. Michael’s at the end of this term will take part in a production of ‘The Black Shadow’. Tickets will be available from the school office from 25 June. £1.00 each.

Thursday 16 July – Leavers’ Mass- 9.15 a.m. At the close of Mass our Year 6 pupils will be presented with a Bible. The Bible will be provided by the PTA to mark the end of the pupils’ time at St. Michael’s school. It is hoped that each child will treasure the Bible and the words contained in it and use it as a guide during the rest of their lives. It is hoped that many parents will join us for our end of term Mass. Friday 17 July – Leavers’ Assembly, 9.15 a.m. This morning the Year 6 pupils who will be leaving St. Michael’s school to transfer to the secondary stage of their education in September will lead our end of term assembly. Parents are invited to join with all in our school community as we say farewell to the children who will be leaving St. Michael’s Academy at the close of this term. We wish each of the children every success and happiness as they prepare to enter the next stage of their education, and trust that they will have many happy memories of the time that they have spent here at St. Michael’s. Friday 17 July School closes for the summer vacation at 1.30 p.m. on this day. All Nursery children will again attend 8.45a.m.-11.45 a.m. on this day. Please note: Breakfast School Care will be open as usual for the morning session, but there will be no After School Care in the afternoon. Children should be collected at 1.30 p.m. Mrs Aleksandrowicz, who has been an Office Administrator at St. Michael’s for 20 years, is retiring today. We thank her for all her hard work over the years. I am sure parents and pupils will join the staff in wishing her a very long and happy retirement. School re-opens to pupils at the start of the autumn term on Monday 07 September. (Thursday 03 and Friday 04 September are in-service training days for the staff of the Bishop Cleary Catholic Multi Academy and children should not attend the Academy on this day).
