USF Sarasota-Manatee Student Government Association Executive Branch 7/30/2013 C0306

Members in Attendance: Todd Hughes-S.G.A. President, Mathew Ward-Chief Financial Officer, Jessica Jensen-C.A.B. President, Murray Devine-Director of Marketing and Promotions, Christopher Mowry-S.G.A. Secretary. J.D. Lotz-S.G.A. Vice-President out on vacation. N/A-Senate President. Student Services Members in Attendance: Bryan Valentine, Darren Gambrell Guest(s): Mary Beth Wallace, John Noe, Carl T. Peterson, Kendra Simpkins Call to Order:  Called to order at 3:02pm by Todd Hughes. Amendments to the Meeting Agenda:  Christopher motions to approve the agenda. Mathew seconds. Approved. Amendments to the Meeting Minutes:  First to be addressed are the Meeting Minutes from 7/16/2013. Mathew motions to approve pending minor changes. Christopher Seconds. Approved via unanimous vote.  The next to be addressed are the Meeting Minutes from 7/23/2013. Mathew motions to approve pending minor changes. Christopher Seconds. Approved via unanimous vote. President and Vice-President Updates:  None for 7/30/2013. Old Business:  None for 7/30/2013. New Business:  Mary Beth hands out a set of document pertaining to student polling on how they felt about S.G.A. and C.A.B. activities during the last administration. The document also includes comments by the students.  Ideas for sporting events is brought up. Darren informs us about how things have worked in the past and what we can do to encourage students to attend these events.  Mary Beth explains what Student Surveys are used for and how they work.  Todd announces that Brian Neeley has officially stepped down from the Senate President position. Todd has appointed Kyle Kern for the Office of the Senate President, Jonathan Campbell (Ranking Senator) has turned the position down.  Todd has also appointed Zachary Stroup to the position of Chief Justice, replacing Kyle Kern.  We have officially brought John Noe on as the Attorney General under a volunteer position. Todd would like to make this an official position. Branch Updates:  Murray asks how the new Constitution is coming. Bryan informs us that we have been given a new due date to accommodate the task.  Jessica informs us that they have adjusted the times for Week of Welcome to better accommodate the students class times. They are also getting pricing on Shirts for best price.



Murray informs Dean Wallace that we have appointed a Director of Communications and that they are working on the student newsletter.

Advisor Updates:  Darren presents a sample of the Honors Sash; the various campuses are making changes and updates. Darren is working on designing it to best represent the Sarasota-Manatee campus.  Bryan informs us that the campus is moving along with Orgsync. Some clubs have already moved over and we have received positive feedback.  Bryan also informs us that the Student Conduct reporting system will be going live August 19th. He will now know immediately if a student gets in trouble on any of the USF campuses.  Bryan needs to know if the fish tank is allowed on campus if we are going to go forward with this idea. Open Floor:  Mathew motions for an Open floor. Christopher seconds.  Todd presents the Board with some listings for USF Xbox skins as well as USF bar stools and bar tables. It is discussed if these times should be bought. Mathew believes that is would be a waist because S.G.A. is looking into purchasing the new consoles coming out later this year. S.G.A. is also meeting with venders on new furniture for the student lounge.  Christopher motions to close the Open Floor. Mathew Seconds Announcements/Upcoming Events:  Todd announces that the official dates for Week of Welcome are August 26-31. Meeting Adjourned:  Christopher motions to adjourn the meeting, Mathew seconds. Todd adjourns the meeting a 4:02pm via unanimous vote.
