Opening Serve Gettysburg looks to keep its playoff hopes alive against conference-leading Johns Hopkins. The Series Johns Hopkins carries an eight-match winning streak against Gettysburg. The Bullets last defeated the Blue Jays in five sets in 2010. Last Meeting Gettysburg fell in four sets (18-25, 25-20, 2517, 25-16) to Johns Hopkins last fall. The Bullets opened with 14 kills in the first set, but the Blue Jays recorded 45 kills with just 13 errors in the final three sets. Laura Bergin ’17 posted 11 kills and 21 digs, while Francesca Garison ’20 and Lauren Godshalk ’17 each recorded 10 kills. Katherine Gilbert ’18 and Stephanie Blair ’18 finished with 16 and 15 digs, respectively. Elizabeth Wuerstle tallied a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs for Johns Hopkins. Last Time Out Gettysburg fell to Swarthmore 3-2 (21-25, 25-10, 25-15, 23-25, 15-6) before suffering a 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-17) setback to Scranton last Saturday. Freshman Maddie Buerle led the team with nine kills, while senior Maddie Weikert and sophomore Kasey Higgins each posted eight against Swarthmore. Weikert also put up 21 digs and senior Katherine Gilbert logged 27 digs. Gilbert added 11 digs against Scranton, while Higgins paced the attack with eight kills.
Green Dot Green Dot is a national violence prevention program implemented by the College in 2015 that trains students, faculty, and staff in bystander intervention to help prevent sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. A “Green Dot” is defined as any behavior, choice, word, or attitude that counters or displaces a “red dot” of violence, promoting safety for everyone and communicating utter intolerance for sexual violence, interpersonal violence, and stalking. Green Dot encourages bystanders to make a choice and then take action by doing something to prevent violence from happening in our community. Playoff Picture Gettysburg enters the final week of the regular season tied with McDaniel and Haverford for the fifth and final playoff spot. The Bullets lost to the Green Terror 3-1 and beat the Fords 3-1. Haverford plays Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore this week, while McDaniel ends with Dickinson and Ursinus. Scouting Johns Hopkins... ● Johns Hopkins is coming off a 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-7) sweep of Ursinus. Three players hit doublefigure kills with Simone Bliss and Louisa Kishton each tallying 11 and Elizabeth Wuerstle posting 10. Kishton also put up a team-high 18 digs. The Blue Jays racked up 14 service aces, including four by Wuerstle and three by Nicole Hada.
