Opening Kick Gettysburg aims to establish itself at the top of the conference standings with a victory over the nationally-ranked Blue Jays tonight. The Series The all-time series between these two teams is deadlocked at 11-11-1. Johns Hopkins has held the upperhand of late, winning each of the last five decisions, including three by one goal. Last Meeting Johns Hopkins scored three times in the opening 12:11 en route to a 4-1 decision last fall at Homewood Field. Tara Gaston ’10 scored in the 26th minute for the Bullets, who were out-shot 18-6 in the contest. Allie Rivera made six saves in the loss. Last Time Out Gettysburg was upended 1-0 in a non-conference road affair at Stevenson on Tuesday. The visitors out-shot the hosts 9-7, but a Mustang goal in the 70th minute provided the only tally in the match. Casey Attanasio recorded a trio of shots for the Bullets, while Allie Rivera made three saves. CC Preseason Poll Gettysburg was predicted to finish sixth in the Centennial Conference this fall. The Bullets aren’t far behind the top five, trailing Muhlenberg by four points and Haverford by two. Five-time champ Johns Hopkins was selected as the conference favorite.

Defensive Stoppers Gettysburg has logged a goals against average under 1.00 in eight of the last nine seasons. Nearly 44 percent of the Bullets’ contests have ended in shutouts over that time period. Senior Sarah Yeager and junior Lauren Johnson have started every match in the backfield for Gettysburg this fall. Scouting Johns Hopkins... The Blue Jays bounced back from their second loss of the year with a 2-1 victory against Haverford last Friday. After the Fords knotted the game in the 83rd minute, Allie Zazzali and Erica Suter hooked up for the game-winner in the 87th minute. Johns Hopkins enters tonight’s match ranked 10th in Division III and second in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The squad leads the CC in most team statistical categories, including goals per match (3.36) and goals against average (0.73). Six Blue Jays have scored in double-figures already this season. Paulina Goodman paces the team with six goals and 14 points, while Eric Suter has reached the net five times, including in three of the last four contests. Kristen Redsun and Meredith Maguire have split time in the cage, with the former leading the CC in GAA at 0.75.
