The Bullets led just 4-2 with 8:12 left in the third quarter but pulled away with a game-ending 5-1 run. The Bullets, who outshot Widener 48-19, received a balanced offensive attack, with sophomores Blake Gray, Jack Harvey, and Tommy Heller scoring two goals apiece and senior Reed Barbe posting one goal and two assists. Defensively, sophomore long-stick midfielder Chris Verdeur scooped five ground balls while freshman defenseman Mitch Wykoff notched three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior Connor Sweeney won 7-of-9 face-offs while freshman Connor Hunt went 4-of-7 at the X.
AMONG THE CONFERENCE LEADERS Several Bullets have established themselves among the Centennial Conference statistical leaders this season, including senior Sean Fumai, who is tied for fourth in goals (17). In addition, sophomore Blake Gray ranks second in the conference in shot percentage (50.0%), is sixth in goals (16), and eighth in points (21); sophomore long-stick midfielder Chris Verdeur is tied for ninth in ground balls (23); junior Tim Brady is third in saves (64); and junior defenseman Cullen Minion is tied for 10th in caused turnovers (nine). SCOUTING THE BEARS Ursinus saw its season-opening five-game winning streak come to an end last Saturday, when they dropped a 14-9 decision at then-No. 15 Cabrini. The Bears trailed just 11-9 early in the fourth quarter before the Cavaliers ended the game on a 3-0 run. Freshman Bobby McClure led the Bears with two goals and two assists while sophomore Elliott Shevitz made 16 saves. McClure has been the team’s leading scorer, posting 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists. Sophomore Peter DeSimone has netted a team-high 15 goals.
