Eastview Traveling Baseball Instructions for Setting up a Web Page for Your Team

Requesting creation of a team page 1) Access and sign in to the EVAA web site (www.evaasports.org). You must sign in to access private pages. 2) Go to http://www.evaasports.org/page/show/353058-evaa-traveling-baseball-programcontacts and locate the board member (currently John Hartig) responsible for the Traveling Baseball web site. Click to initiate an e-mail. 3) In the e-mail to the web site admin, please indicate that you would like to set up a web page for your team. You must also provide the following information: a. The name and, most importantly, the EVAA web site (NGIN) sign-in name of the person who will be responsible for administering your team web page. This can be found in the upper left corner of the EVAA web site after you sign in. See the example below.

b. Names and sign-in names of others who may need to administer the page. c. Team name (e.g. 10AA Blue) 4) You will be contacted once your team page has been created. You will find it under SportsBaseballTravelingTeam pages. 5) Team pages will be set up as “private”, meaning only team members who are given permission will be able to see the page. You can make your page public but it is recommended that you keep it private if you have pictures, phone numbers, email addresses, or statistics on the page or if any parent has a concern with the page being available to the public.

Uploading your team roster 1) Before uploading a roster you should collect a list of player names, jersey numbers, positions (if available), EVAA/NGIN user names (if available) and email addresses IF the player does not already have an EVAA/NGIN web site account. 2) Sign in to the EVAA web site with your account that has page management permissions. 3) Navigate to your team page. It will be under SportsBaseballTravelingTeam Pages(Team Name). 4) Once your access has been set up, there will be a toggle switch near the top right of the page that looks like this:

Click on Edit Mode. 5) Click on the Roster button.

6) Click Add Player. 7) Select Add Player from Network Member Directory. 8) Type in the EVAA/NGIN user name or last name of the player and you should be able to find the EVAA/NGIN account for each player on your team (registration other than walk-in registration would require creation of an account). If any of your players does NOT have an account you can choose “Create New Player” and the site will send an email to the player offering to set up an account. 9) Select a position (or multiple positions) for each player as you create the roster (INF or OF is OK); do not leave this field blank. A value is needed here in order to compile player statistics if you choose to post statistics on the site. 10) Click on the Coaches tab. 11) Click Add Coach. 12) Click Create New Coach or Add Coach from Network Member Directory. The second option should be used if you know the coach’s EVAA/NGIN login. The first option allows you to create the coach from scratch if the coach does not have an account.

Adding permissions for team members Follow the steps below to add permissions for members of the team: 1) Collect information as above – the EVAA/NGIN user name of each parent/player. 2) Make sure that you are in Edit Mode.

3) On your main team page, click on Admin-Permissions. 4) Click Add Profiles. Search for and select the profile name of the parent or parents you wish to add to the group. The account will be given “view” permission to the site by default. 5) Click Add Profiles.

Adding events to your team schedule 1) Access the calendar on your team page and click Add Event.

2) Complete the web form for each practice, game, or other event. 3) Games can be added using the “Game Schedule” function but you may find that it is easier to track your schedule using the event calendar or a separate tool (Excel sheet, etc.). You can add documents to your page by clicking “Add Page Element” and selecting Document.

Adding pictures of each player 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6)

Take pictures of each player with your digital camera. Click Roster button. Click on a player. Click on Update Player Photo. Select the correct photo of the player from your hard drive and click Upload Image. Do the same for the coaches on the Coaches tab.

Adding team pictures to your page 1) On the main team page, click Add Page Element.

2) You have two options—adding a Single Photo or adding a Photo Gallery, which allows you to present multiple images in a slide-show fashion. 3) If you click Single Photo, you will be prompted for the image file as well as any captions to add with the picture. Click Create This Page Element when you have specified all of the relevant information. 4) If you click Photo Gallery, specify the name and properties of the gallery and then click Create This Page Element. The gallery will then be placed on the page. Click the Add Photos button in your new page element in order to add individual photos. 5) Flip the toggle switch back to User Mode to see what the finished page layout looks like.

Tracking Team and Player Statistics 1)

The EVAA/NGIN website allows tracking of statistics; however, we have provided a spreadsheet on the Coaches Page of the Eastview Traveling Baseball website that allows the same functionality and seems simpler. You can choose to track statistics using the website but please look at the Statistics Workbooks on the Coaches Page first.

2)

Posting player statistics on your Team Page may be a sensitive subject. You can keep the Statistics Workbook private among coaches but if you want to share it you can post it as a document on your Team Page and update the document at regular intervals during the season.

3)

If you do wish to use the built-in statistics capability a more complete Team Page document including statistics information exists on the In-house baseball site (http://www.evaasports.org/page/show/472731-teams).
