Newsletter 27 May 2016 Lunch menus Next week is WEEK 1 (WB 6 June 2016) Greenaway Project Both our Year 3 classes took part in the Greenaway Book Award Project at Hungerhill School. The main focus of the day was Drama activities and all the children had a chance to act out scenes based on the book “Captain Jack and the Pirates” by Peter Bently. In the afternoon they wrote their own play scripts and some of these can be seen on the Greenaway website. http://www.carnegiegreenaway.org.uk/shadowing-videos.php One year 3 child said “It was really good fun and the Year 9 pupils made it the best day ever!”
Dates for your diary Next term is just as busy as this one! Y6 Transition days to Hunger Hill st nd rd Our children will visit Hunger Hill secondary school on 21 , 22 and 23 June. These will be full day sessions in the school and will be invaluable for our children. They will get a real chance to find their way about and get a feel for the school as a whole. More details to follow soon. The staff from Hungerhill will also visit our children in the next half term to deliver additional computing and science taster sessions. Y6 Hollowford Residential We are looking forward to taking our children to the Hollowford Centre at Castleton. Thank you to everyone who attended the briefing session earlier this week. The planned activities look exciting and we are sure the children will rise to the occasion. Please return the medical slips and contact details as soon as possible. If you have any further questions please get in touch. Thank you for all your support this half term It has been a busy time with both Key stage 1 and 2 SATs etc. The Children worked really hard. Y1 and 2 Visit “The Deep” Another exciting visit to explore the Giants and Minnows at The Deep, one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world. It should be a fantastic inspiration for the future learning in both year groups. AUTHORISING ABSENCE The school would like to authorise all absences. This can only be done if we receive information from parents explaining clearly the reason for absence. It is vital, therefore, that parents contact school every time PUPILS are absent from school for any reason. If no explanation for absence is received the absence will be recorded as unauthorised; in some circumstances this may be regarded as truancy and legal action follow
