Newsletter 20 May 2016 Lunch menus Next week is WEEK 4 The Big Tidy Up A huge thank you to Mr Brook, Mrs Stevenson , Mrs Pitkin and Mrs Atherton for volunteering their time on Wednesday to help with ‘ The Big Tidy’. With help from Mike and Steve from IKEA we battled through the rain to transform the nature area. Thanks too , to Mrs Pick for organising all of this. Reach4 As you are aware the school is planning to join the Reach4 Trust. On the reverse of this newsletter is a letter from Libby Nicholas CEO of Reach4 with more information about the process. There will be an information meeting for parents on th Monday 13 June 2016 at 2.30pm where there will be an opportunity to ask questions and find out more. Year 3 – Sapphire Class We are pleased to welcome back Mrs Veal from maternity leave after half term. She will replace Mrs Harris on Monday to Wednesday. We thank Mrs Harris for her work over the past months and wish her well in the future. Attendance It is the legal duty of parents to ensure that their child receives full time education. Good attendance is vital to a child’s progress and achievement. It is important to note that short periods of regular absence can be just as damaging to learning as long term absence. SCHOOL EXPECTS pupils to

  

· attend regularly · arrive on time and appropriately prepared for the day · report to reception should they arrive after 9.00

THE SCHOOL EXPECTS PARENTS to

  

· fulfil their responsibility by ensuring that their child attends school · That they will contact the office by phone or in person on each day when their child is unable to attend · That they will aim to ensure that their child arrives on time and well prepared

· That they will contact the Learning Mentor or office in confidence whenever any problems occur that may keep their child away from school · That they will inform the OFFICE of any forthcoming appointments or term time leave and ensure the continuity of their child’s education by taking HOLIDAY during the school holiday period and arranging appointments outside the school day

AUTHORISING ABSENCE The school would like to authorise all absences. This can only be done if we receive information from parents explaining clearly the reason for absence. It is vital, therefore, that parents contact school every time PUPILS are absent from school for any reason. If no explanation for absence is received the absence will be recorded as unauthorised; in some circumstances this may be regarded as truancy and legal action follow
