About the Eagles Edgewood College struggled in its first game last week against Wisconsin Lutheran but was able to turn around and put together its strongest shooting performance of the season in a win over Rockford this past Saturday. Post players Sierra Jiran and Allison Gordon both had big nights but the league-leading Warriors pulled away late in Milwaukee on Tuesday. WLC scored the first 12 points of the second half and outscored the Eagles 21-7 in the third, eventually winning 70-38. Allison Gordon had a career high 14 points while Sierra Jiran notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another double-double from Jiran and three other players in double figures helped the Eagles snag their second NACC win of the year in Rockford on Saturday. Edgewood College shot a season-best 41.8 percent from the field and had four players reach at least 10 points in one game for the first time in nearly a year. Jiran (14), Zoey Dougherty (11), Gordon (10) and Jazmin Little (10) also reached the double-digit mark on the day and the Eagles racked up a season-high 50 points in the paint in the 66-54 victory.

About the Sabres Marian University started off the season 4-4 but have since dropped its last five. The Sabres’ last win was a 69-56 victory over Rockford at home on Dec. 12. Since then they have lost every game by at least 10 points. The Sabres have proven to be a viable threat from downtown this year, as they rank first in the league in three-pointers made per game (7.7) and third in three-point percentage (31.3). Nicole Paulus leads Marian in scoring (11.6 per game) and Brittany Bauman leads in rebounding (5.5).
