GAMMAXIGAB Gamma Xi Chapter of Siqma Nu. Brothers, as this Fall semester commences, I am proud to say that Sigma Nu is showing great promise for the coming future. The Gamma Xi Chapter has undergone substantial property improvement over the last 6 months. With the help of Housing Corps, the chapter has been able to construct four new apartment units that increase the house's capacity by eight. Along with the addition of the apartments, the chapter has also completed a new metal garage that provides a perfect workspace for the various events throughout the year and keeps the basement from getting disarrayed. The women's and EC hallway restrooms have also been renovated to provide a much needed esthetic update. With these brand new additions to Gamma Xi, we now have invaluable tools to allow us to compete with the likes of Pi Kappa Alpha and Kappa Sigma to be the best Fraternity at Missouri S&T. But it is an obvious fact that it takes much more than just these improvements that allow our chapter to compete to be the best. Brotherhood, participation, and accountability are a few of the values that are a necessity while in the pursuit of excellence. I know that with the members ofthe Executive Committee that currently hold office within the chapter, we are all committed to upholding those values, as well as our core values, while achieving the common goal of being the absolute best Fraternity on this campus. One of the largest tasks we have as a chapter to tackle this semester is our scholastics. We have been below par for a couple semesters running now and we are aware of importance of getting our house GPA back up. We have implemented by-law changes recently to raise our minimum bar and demand our members to push themselves to excel in the classrooms. We have also implemented longer structured study hours for those that have failed to meet our goals for the previous semester. Every member of the chapter is taking an active role in improving their grades in order to elevate Sigma Nu academically. Over the summer, our RUSH chairmen did an out-
standing job in finding the most qualified young men to
join the ranks of Sigma Nu. The chapter has gained a total of twenty-one new candidates that will be pledging this fall semester. This new class is a very diverse group and is showing great promise. They have been very enthusiastic thus far and I can't wait to see what the next year will bring. With this new school year, Gamma Xi is looking forward to Greek Week, Homecoming and the renewed Intramural competition. We are all going to take on these challenges with the same goal as stated above: to be the best. We have always been very competitive in these events but always fall just short offirst. We are going to put forth the extra effort to get us on top of each of these events. Sigma Nu has maintained a high level of participation with the major organizations on campus. Sigma Nu is represented in the Interfraternity Council by our Senior Rep, f'31449 Vincent Sanchez - Member Education, Junior Rep, f'31462 Ethan Margherio - Fields Chairman, and First Year Rep, f'31470 Adam McMikle- Sales Chairman. On the St. Pat's Board we are represented by f'31460 Blake Thomure- Vice President, f'31463 Andy TuanoSales Manager, and Baby Rep f'31477 Joel Thorne. On behalf of the Gamma Xi Chapter of Sigma Nu, I would like to extend our gratitude for your continued support and interest in the Fraternity. Please feel free to stop by the house for any of the events over this coming semester or if you have any questions, ideas, or comments, please feel free to contact me by email at
[email protected] or by telephone at 816-304-1679. Respectfully, Garret Cozad Commander GammaXi 1438

Brothers, The Gamma Xi chapter is working diligently to create a recipe for perfection. The past few semesters have been a failure in terms of living up to our potential. With this being said we are setting high standards in every aspect of the house. So far our Executive Committee has been implementing major changes to make the success we expect possible. Over the summer most ofEC met to recognize where we will stand on major issues within the chapter and stick together on the tough decisions. By implementing the values learned on our journey to becoming a knight we can rise to the top. Accountability has been the emphasis implanted for the semester to make sure each brother fulfilling their duties at their own respective position. Committees have been completely organized to utilize team work and I will make sure they are meeting regularly to accomplish their goals. The house has received a few face lifts over the summer starting with the bathrooms. They have been refurnished with all new tile, stalls, and countertops doing away with the worn down blue everything. There has also been an addition to the back deck reaching all the way to the sand volleyball pit. The stain was finished during opening week and this project allows us more room to bond with our growing numbers, 54 active members and 21 candidates, as the deck is a common place to socialize. We hope many of you come out over Homecoming weekend, October 12-14, to see these enhancements and discuss our progress as a house. Also, early next semester will mark our 110th anniversary of the Gamma Xi chapter and we would love for you to join us in celebration. Please contact me at tahmqf@ mail.mst.edu if you plan on attending either event so we can accommodate your visit. High goals are being set for this semester to our dominance in campus participation. We will strive to win Homecoming, Greek Week, and place first in overall intramurals. With the valiant leaders and talented athletes among the house this can be accomplished. Scholastically we want to have a combined grade point average above 3.0 as well as above all men's and all fraternity. This goal will be the hardest with our recent struggle academically but with dedication and unity towards school work it suddenly becomes obtainable. Please feel free to contact me at the above email address or at 314-6400529 with any questions or concerns you may have. We value all of your opinions and advice to help this house succeed with our mission, to be the best through Love, Truth and Honor. Fraternally, Tyler Herrell' 1464' Lieutenant Commander

Dear Brothers, We are planning a 110 Year Gamma Xi Celebration in conjunction with Homecoming 20l3. The dates for this celebration will be Thursday 17 through Sunday 20. Over 400 alumni, actives, and guests attended our lOO Year Celebration. Following that event, many Alumni commented that they would like Housing Corp to put together special celebration events more frequently than every 25 years. We believe 2013 is a great time for such a special celebration. in the past 10 years. Here are some of the highlights: - First and foremost, with your generosity
We have made so much progress at the Chapter House
we paid off original 30 year note in less than 15 years.
- A new Chapter Room was built in the basement in 2008 to provide a more reverent place for our fraternity meetings and to house our symbols. - Air conditioning
was added to the Chapter House in 2010.
- A garage was placed on the property in 2011 to allow adequate space for projects and add storage space. - A new 8 man annex was built in 2012 to provide an upgraded housing alternative
for our older active members.
- In addition, the bathrooms on the main level have been remodeled. - Future plans include remodeling
the remaining bathrooms
and the dining room.
We've worked hard to keep our Fraternity House competitive with the other frat houses and university housing. We believe you will be pleased with what you see when you come back to visit. Our plans for the weekend include a little something for everyone from golf to wine tasting, from semi formal dinners to fellowship at the fraternity house. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to reconnect with your Sigma Nu brothers and make acquaintances with brothers from other years. So text, tweet, email, or even call your fraternity Brothers and get a group to join in the fun at Homecoming 2013 ! Additional information regarding Homecoming email

Brotherhood is continually getting stronger within the Gamma Xi chapter. We are looking to place very highly in both Greek Week and Homecoming this semester and continue the tradition of ranking among the top in the upcoming st. Patss. Brother Davis and Alyatim will be in charge of the 50th Annual Greek Week Celebration. As far as the prep for st. Pat's goes, we are looking to have a tree out ofthe ground and debarked by Thanksgiving break to give us ample time to work on the cudgel. We are still holding weekly brotherhood events such as bowling and poker nights, and we're planning on a big brotherhood day over Thanksgiving break including a tour of the Budweiser brewery (if any of you are interested in joining us feel free to contact me!) Intramurals for this year are looking very promising as we are returning everyone from our champion football team, championship volleyball squad, and second place basketball team. We are looking to come out on top in intramurals this year and end the steak of pesky second place finishes. If you have any questions feel free to contact me by email (
[email protected]). Aaron Cobb rz 1451 Brotherhood Chair
Last semester the Gamma Xi chapter received a GPA of 2.872. This gave us a rank of nineteenth amongst fraternities. The house is making improvements on grades, but the whole house is behind the 14 men who failed to receive a 2.5 GPA. New By-Laws have been made to accommodate the recent slip in grades as well as added study hours. The newly initiated members grades were the same compared to their candidate grades. I have set up a committee that I will use to help me enforce study hours for those with lower grades as well as look after the candidates to ensure they're successful. I am also trying to fine-tune a system that puts incentives in place for those whose grades excel. Ihope to help make our house a leader among fraternities, and to do this we have to be one of the best in everything we do. Grades will continue to increase and we are proud of the major jump that our house has taken since the poor grades in the past. The Gamma Xi chapter has been making major improvements. over the past couple years and we will only strive to get better every semester. We are looking forward to a great Fall semester and hope to see you soon! Atallah Alyatim rs 1467
The Gamma Xi Chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity has successfully brought twenty-one quality young men into the house for candidacy. We are greatly looking forward to this fall semester, and the chapter hopes for this to be a very successful candidate class. The spring holds hope, also, with several potential candidates looking to join the house. The past summer's push for candidates included a variety of events such as paintball, Cardinals' games, float trips, camping trips, professional boxing, dinners, bonfires, and barbecues. We plan on cutting the amount oftravelIing events for this fall semester and increasing the amount of local events to going spring candidates. This will help bring success to the Gamma Xi Chapter of Sigma Nu. If you have any questions or referrals of potential candidates, please to contact us: Caleb Day Email:

[email protected] The fall semester of 20 12 has 20 new candidates to add to the house, along with the 4 newly initiated brothers. During this semester I plan on focusing the majority of my attention on respect for the house and the active chapter. I will be using the same basic program for the candidate process that was brought into the house in 2009. With this program and the leadership of the current knights I plan to guide these young men into the Legion of Honor. If you have any questions or comments feel free to email me at

Patio of Honor Greetings Brothers of Gamma Xi. As the chapter continues to grow, so does its history. We would like to give you the opportunity to not only leave a piece of your time here with the house, but to also help provide for the future of the house. The Patio of Honor continues to expand and it would be our pleasure to have you as our next honoree! Each commemorative brick is engraved with your name and initiation number and is placed alongside of the those of your brothers. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer the cast aluminum star due to issues with our supplier. For a minimum donation of $75 you can have a brick created with your name and initiation number engraved on the front. The money will go towards the cost of the brick materials, as well as improvements to the house. We greatly appreciate your help to continually making Sigma Nu the best house on campus. You can contact me by email at
