KIDS & FAMILIES FAMILY BRIDGE | 11.26.2017 A Song of Thanksgiving a weekly resource to connect church and home
What your child discussed this Sunday In review of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, we read the words of the prophet Isaiah, who shared how to respond to God taking away our punishment for sin with praise, thanksgiving and sharing that love with others. .This week’s Bible passage: Isaiah 12 “Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted.” Main Point: We are thankful (in action) for Jesus saving us from sin. Key Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”

READ: Isaiah 12 in a common translation or children’s Bible. Take turns with pieces since it is so long. Add voices, action or a melody to this song of thanks. Connection Questions: Who are the characters in the story? What is the important event? What sticks out the most from the story?
DISCUSS: What are you most thankful for? List off as many things as you can, draw them, talk about them or make up your own song of thanks and sing together. Practise and perform for the whole family at Thanksgiving dinner!
PRAY: Dear generous God, thank you for saving us from the consequence of sin. Because of your love, we can accept forgiveness and share how great your love is with everyone! Amen.
