GAME NOTES OPENING TIP
Gettysburg looks to improve its place in the conference standings when it takes on league leader Muhlenberg tonight. ALL-TIME SERIES Muhlenberg leads the all-time series 29-19. The Mules have won each of the last three meetings dating back to last season. LAST MEETING No. 21 Muhlenberg pumped in 29 points in the second quarter to get by Gettysburg 8172 on Dec. 5. The Mules connected on eight three-pointers in the game - the most surrendered by the Bullets this season. Senior Jessica Porter posted 15 of her 20 points in the second half to lead Gettysburg. Freshman Emma Dorshimer finished with 19 points, while senior Emily Duggan logged 14 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Christina Manning knocked down five three-pointers on the way to a game-high 25 points for Muhlenberg. Rachel Plotke added 17 points, while Brandi Vallely recorded 11 points and 15 assists. LAST TIME OUT Gettysburg avenged an early-season defeat to Johns Hopkins on Tuesday, leading from start-to-finish in a 52-36 decision. The Bullets jumped out to a double-figure lead in less than three minutes and led by as many as 23 in the second half. Freshman Emma Dorshimer pumped in 18 of her team-high 20 points in the opening half to pace Gettysburg. Sophomore Emily Gibbons contributed 10 points and eight rebounds, while senior Emily Duggan picked up eight points and six rebounds.
NATIONAL LEADERS Gettysburg ranks among the national leaders in several categories. The Bullets are sixth in field-goal percentage defense (30.6), ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.19), 12th in scoring defense (50.1), 14th in assists per game (17.9), and 16th in blocked shots per game (6.0). FIRST YEAR COACHING SUCCESS Only one coach has won more games in her debut season at Gettysburg than current coach Nate Davis. Anne Hurst steered the Bullets to a 19-6 overall record during her first campaign at the helm in 1984-85. THINK PINK The Bullets are selling t-shirts to help raise money for breast cancer awareness. SCOUTING MUHLENBERG... Muhlenberg is ranked 12th by D3hoops.com and 11th by the WBCA. The team’s 16-1 start is the best in program history. The Mules dropped Franklin & Marshall 8648 on Tuesday. Five players scored in doublefigures with Rachel Plotke posting 16 points and Brandi Vallely adding 14 to go with 10 assists, seven rebounds, and four steals. Sophomore Brandi Vallely has already blown away the conference’s single-season assist record with 171 helpers this season. She leads the nation in both assists per game (10.1) and triple-doubles (4). Vallely’s triple-double total is a new NCAA Division III standard.
