Director’s Corner February was an exciting month as we learned about various community helpers and how they assist in keeping our community safe. They also taught us life safety skills and how to keep healthy. Thank you to all the parents who shared their careers with their children’s classrooms. You were such a blessing! Recently we have had a series of colds and other illnesses affecting our children, families, and staff. May we ask that you please keep your child home if they exhibit any of the following symptoms to deter the spread of illness: constant runny nose or green discharge, continuous coughing spells, diarrhea, vomiting or fever. Your child should be 24- hour fever free without medication before returning to school. Please help us reinforce good hygiene habits of keeping fingers out of mouths, washing hands before snacks and meals, and after toileting. Our goal is to keep everyone healthy. We highly suggest that children arrive at school before 8:00 am each morning. Being on time will allow them to independently complete all their “morning jobs” before starting the day with their teachers and classmates. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide your child with great learning experiences. Each of your families are so special to us. If at any time Hawaii Kai Church or the ELC can be of service to you or your family, please do not hesitate to call us. Blessings, Char Sato
Come and join us at Hawaii Kai Church Sunday mornings at 8:45 and 10:30 am!

Community Helpers We have been taking a closer look at people in our community that help us. We visited the Hawaii Kai Fire Station, as well the Hawaii Kai Library. In addition, the Honolulu Police Department and the HECO bucket truck paid us a visit. The children are learning a lot about the equipment used in these professions, as well as safety related information that they can use in their daily lives, and in emergency situations. Many parents have been to our classrooms sharing their professions as well. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to share with us! If you have a career that you would like to share, please see your child’s teacher! We’d love to have you!

Welcome Pastor Amel!
The 2017-18 school year calendar is now available on our website at www.hawaiikaichurch.org.
Hawaii Kai Church and the Early Learning Center are excited to have Pastor Amel Dominguez join our Hawaii Kai Church staff as an Associate Pastor. He previously led the youth ministry at Island Grace Church for seven years. Pastor Amel and his wife Vangie have four children. Pastor Amel has already had a chance to meet the children at the ELC, and he is eager to get to know our families as well. Please join us in giving him a warm welcome if you see him around campus!
