Kingshill Church School Newsletter Friday 23 January 2015 Dear Parents/Carers
Oh dear we had a very muddy wellie walk yesterday! The children had a fantastic time but the mud was worse than we thought so I must apologise to parents as some of the children were very very muddy! We did raise money for Farm Africa - a very worthwhile cause - so thank you for your understanding, Watch out for a feature in the local paper!
We loved looking at the fish.
Opal and Diamond classes really enjoyed their trip to Bristol Aquarium – they had a fantastic day out and learnt so much too! Behaviour was as usual exemplary - well done children. We are very much looking forward to our visit next week from the Bannerman Road school council. They are coming on Monday to work with our school council - we will fill you with more details next week.

If you need to drive into the car park between these times then please make sure you close the gates each time. Thank you for your co-operation with this. Jan Thomson Headteacher

Car parking at Kingshill/Children’s Centre and Greenslade Pre-School Please be aware of the following parking policy and letter from Greenslade Pre-School
Nailsea and Backwell Children’s Centre Access to Car Park Policy April 2014 Following a number of recent “near misses” involving moving vehicles and young children, we would like to remind you that the Children’s Centre car parking is for Children’s Centre use only. The Children’s Centre understands that users of Greenslade Pre-School and Kingshill Church School may find this inconvenient, but we felt it necessary to re-implement this policy to ensure our children’s safety. We also understand that some families may have complicating factors that make walking to site difficult, therefore we have implemented a “Parking Permit” system which commenced 29/4/14. One of the following criteria needs to be met in order for a Parking Permit to be given to parents/carers. * *
A parent/carer or child minder with pre-school children who also have a new born baby. This is to support them to manage the safety of all the children as well as manoeuvring a buggy. This will be short term. Parents or children with additional needs.
Each request for a pass will be assessed individually by the Children’s Centre Leader and Leader from Greenslade Pre-School and a joint decision will be made. The decision will take into account the family’s situation at that time and reviewed regularly. Anyone abusing their pass ie driving too fast or given to another family, will have their pass removed. The gate will be monitored ad-hoc between 8 30 am - 9 15 am and 2 30 pm - 3 15 pm to enforce this procedure. Anyone without a pass will be asked to park in the nearby streets and walk to school and pre-school. This is to ensure the safety of all children who attend Greenslade Pre-School, Kingshill Church School and Nailsea and Backwell Children’s Centre.
Greenslade Pre School Due to two very serious incidents, we need to urgently address the issue of parents parking in the campus car park. Under no circumstances should parents park in the car park, it becomes very congested and puts our children at risk of injury or worse. The campus has now referred the matter to the community police and we have ben informed that they will be monitoring the situation. They will be taking number plates of any offending vehicles. It is a car park for campus staff only and our allocation is only two staff spaces. We trust we can rely on your support in this matter. Thank you
