MARKET REPORT PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE THURSDAY 13th MARCH 2014 THOUGHT OF THE WEEK Everyone you will ever meet, Knows something you don't. A total yarding of just under 1800 head came on offer at today's Emerald Cattle Sale. A reasonably good quality yarding of cattle were presented today, unfortunately buyer competition was much weaker especially on prime cattle where at stages of the sale only two meatworks buyers were operating. Store cattle sold to a reduced buyers gallery although one highlight of the day was the stronger competition over feeder weight steers. As mentioned prime cattle suffered today with bullocks over 550kgs topping at 164.2c/kg to average 150.3c/kg and be -9c/kg cheaper. Prime heifers over 400kgs topped at 140.2c/kg and average 129c/kg and be -6c/kg cheaper. Heavy cows over 520kgs topped at 130.2c/kg to average 120.7c/kg and be -14c/kg cheaper on last sale. Weaner steers 220-320kgs topped at 173.2c/kg to average 143.3c/kg and be -19c/kg on last sale. Light feeder steers 320-400kgs topped at 176.2c/kg and average 156c/kg and be +13c/kg on last weeks sale. Weaner heifers 220-300kgs topped at 125.2c/kg to average 111.1c/kg and be -7c/kg cheaper. Cows & calves topped at $490/unit for some cull for age Brangus cows & calves.

Wall Pastoral 'Birtley' Springsure, sold Brahman X heifers at 125c to average 292kg and return at $365/hd. J R Holzwart 'Kensington' Yamala a pen of Prime Euro X #1 Heifers to 138c to weigh 607kg returning $837/hd. The Dickson Family “Chelbrook” Emerald sold a quality line of Brangus/ Charolais x feeder steers to top the sale at 174.2c/kg and weigh 385kgs to return $671/head. Lachlan Dickson “Chelbrook” Emerald sold quality Brangus feeder steers to make 163.2c/kg and weigh 437kgs to return $714/head. The Foot Family “Marmadilla” Springsure sold a quality line of Euro/ Brahman x steers to top at 157.2c/kg and weigh 354kgs to return $557/head. Doug & Kym Muirhead “Rainwell” Springsure sold a draft of heavy Brangus x bullocks to weigh 668kgs to make 151.2c/kg to return $1011/head. Kerry & Cathy Truloff “The Firs” Willows sold Charolais x weaners the steers making 160c/kg weighing 285kgs for $457. Their sisters made 125c/kg weighing 273kgs and return $341.Kleier Past “Luxor” Dysart sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for 154c/kg weighing 303kgs for $466. ED Investments sold Brahman x No. 2 Heifers for 135c/kg weighing 490kgs to realise $660. Rob & Julie Crozier “Rydan” Rubyvale sold Brahman x No. 1 Heifers for 136kgs weighing 515kgs for $701. Hugo Spooner “Avocet” Springsure had a strong sale with his 407kg composite steers making 176.2c/kg to average $717. While quality 277kg Droughtmaster weaner steers from the Woolcock Family “Moystyndale” Springsure sold to 160.2c/kg & $445. Heavy Charbray cows 637kgs from the McKinlay Family “Stewart Park” Comet sold for 123.2c/kg &785. Barry & Vicki Gifford “Glenmore” Capella sold 690kgs Brangus cows for 130.2c/kg to return $898. Edward Salzwedel “Yamala” sold Droughtmaster x bullocks to 153.2c/kg to weigh 560kgs and gross $859/head. Steven and Alison Kajewski “Bettafield” Gindie sold Droughtmaster x bullocks to 157.2c/kg to weigh 534kgs and gross $840/head. While their Charolais x heifers sold to 140.2c/kg to weigh 533kgs and gross $748/head. Dunmor Pastoral Co, “Riverview” Sold a line of good quality Droughtmaster Bullocks for 155.0 c/kg and they weighed 580kgs which returned $899. Dale English “Diamond Downs” sold a pen of Droughtmaster feeder steers which made 150.0c/kg and weighed 475kg and they returned at $950. Hiddenvale Past Co, “Hiddenvale” sold a good run of Brahman weaner steers, they made up to 125.2c/kg and averaged 303kgs and return $380. G.E.&P.E. Hurrey, “Bahoole” sold a run of heavy Santa heifers what made 139.2c/kg and weighed 404kg with the total $563. N&M Rowe, Sold an exceptional line of Charolais feeder steers with the best of them making 151.2c/kg and they weighed 383kgs and returned back at $579. D&W Thornberry, Sold a pen of Droughtmaster steers with the heavy end of them making 153.2c/kg and weighed 437kg and returned $669. J.L.G & L.R Bishop, Sold a good pen of Brahman X cows what made 129.2c/kg and they weighed 580kgs and made a total of $750.
