NAUTICAL STRIPES QUILT BLOCK Size 12½” x 12½” · Beginner Level

QUILT BLOCK INTRODUCTION Inspired by my time spent along the South Texas Coast as a child, the nautical stripes quilt block is part of the Summer Block Party hosted by fabric.com. Create your own wall hanging, pillow or quilt top - the possiblities are endless y’all!

QUILT BLOCK ASSEMBLY Based on the illustration to the right, create four blocks with a 1/4” seam. Be sure to position the Kona Navy stripe at the top, then press the seams open.

QUILT BLOCK ASSEMBLY continued Based on the quilt block diagram below, assemble and sew the four blocks together with a 1/4” seam, then press the seams open. The block will measure 12½” unfinished and 12” finished. ABOUT INITIAL K STUDIO Initial K Studio is the brainchild of Austin based graphic designer-turned-modern-quilter, Kristi Schroeder. After designing for luxury retailer Neiman Marcus and the award-winning architectural firm Corgan—Ms. Schroeder left the corporate world behind to pursue her true passion—modern quilting. This native Texan is a world traveler who draws inspiration for her quilts in art, fashion, and textiles from around the globe. All quilt patterns are conceived, designed, and handmade by Ms. Schroeder.
