News and Inspiration from AngoraGarnet

Two years have already gone by since I mailed the first Bohus Stickning kit. It has been two very eventful and fantastically fun years. Except for ”Chess (Schack),” all of Solveig Gustafsson’s previously recreated models of Bohus Stickning are now once again available.
The latest is ”Lemon” for which, luckily, I was finally able to obtain the correct colors. Now it is also available with white as the main color as for the 1957 original designed by Annika-Malmström Bladini.
With the kind help and support of Solveig Gustafsson, who sends her good wishes to everyone, I have even had the time to recreate a few more models following the original Bohus Stickning designs. Our homepage has now been updated so you can easily find more information about all the models, which are categorized by the main color. This year, we’ve recreated these models following the original Bohus Stickning designs: ”Canna”, ”The Spring,” ”The Blue Mist”, ”The Pale Shimmer”, ”The Balloons”, and ”The Bumblebee”. The Bumblebee is only available as a hat, but the rest of the designs are for pullovers/cardigans. The Canna and Blue Mist designs are also available as hats.

Future Challenges for AngoraGarnet We are very grateful for the high demand for our angora yarn, Silfverberg Designs, and Bohus Stickning. A big challenge for me going forward is continuing to produce the necessary amount of angora fiber. My husband, Gunnar, and I do not want to expand beyond what Gunnar and I can handle on our own. First of all, because the well-being of our rabbits is essential for us and because we believe that a healthy rabbitry cannot be too large. We hope that you will be understanding if, periodically, we cannot send everything ordered. Beginning 1 July, we will need to adjust the prices in order to ensure that we can eventually offer yarn of the quality and range that we’d like from our own angora rabbits. About the Rabbits: Gunnar has built several ”apartment buildings,” for the rabbits and many have moved to their new homes ☺ The year’s first litters of baby rabbits are running around and are full of life. The oldest ones are now ready to leave their mothers and will be shorn for the first time. They spend a cozy time on my knees while they are clipped

The Calender for this Year: 8 – 10 July: We will exhibit about 40 of our full-coated angora rabbits at the National Show in Alingsås, Sweden. Please visit and have a good look around. This is usually a very fine event with many activities. 21 – 23 September: You’ll find us at the ”Fanø International Knit Festival” in Denmark. 28 – 30 October: Our plan is to be, for the first time, at the Syfestivalen in Stockholm. So much fun! We always welcome visits to our farm shop whenever possible. Please contact us to reserve a time.
