Burleigh School Newsletter 9th September 2016 News Year 6 information
What was the highlight for you? It seems hard to believe that we have already nearly completed our first week back at Burleigh after the summer holiday. All the classes are settling down well, focusing on their learning and getting to know their new teachers – well done everyone! But……what’s been the highlight of the week so far for you? For me, it has definitely been meeting parents and children at the gate each morning and exchanging ‘hellos’, smiles and greetings. This, more than anything else, has reminded me why Burleigh School is a good place to be. As we start the new school year together, can I challenge us all to consider afresh what we want for our children? Quite rightly, it’s very important that they are happy and feel safe, but what about their learning? Where would we like them to be in July? If we all, “Work together for the good of the children”, we must surely stand a good chance of success. Learning is very much a partnership between home and school – we can’t do it without you! So, if you can, come along to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening on Tuesday 13th September – it will be great to see you there. Let’s find out how we can help our children together! Years 1, 3 and 5 will meet in the Infant Hall; with Years 2, 4 and 6 meeting in the Junior hall. See Diary Dates for times.
Due to Broxbourne School’s open evening on Tuesday 13th , we will repeat Y6’s ‘Meet the Teacher’ event and Isle of Wight meeting at 3.30pm on Thursday 15th September in 6HA’s classroom.
All Year 6 parents should now have received the Moving on 2017 secondary transfer booklet. All the information you need is at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/admissions.Forms must be in by 31st October 2016.
News Attendance
Our attendance figures are only just in line with national averages. So that they do not cause us to fail Ofsted, we still need to improve on our current score. Therefore, absence in term time for holidays and trips cannot be granted and has to be treated as unauthorised. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
