WARM-UP: What is the greatest masterpiece you have ever seen, heard or experienced? Which do you tend to have more awe and wonder at; The Galaxy, The Ocean, The Grand Canyon or A Christian? What is the difference between good works and beautiful works?
WARM-UP: God says you are a masterpiece (literally a poem)! What does that mean to you? What are some of the “good works” that you might have done this week? What is the difference between good works and beautiful works? Is “for” good works a statement of purpose or statement of immediate result?
WORD-TIME: Ephesians 2:1-10 WORD-TIME: Ephesians 2:1-22 1. What does this passage teach us about Jesus Christ? 2. What does this passage teach us about human nature in general? 3. What does this passage teach us about being a Christian? 4. If you truly believed Ephesians 2:10 how would your life be different? How would it be better? 5. What are the hurdles that keep you from living according to the good works created for you to do? 6. How would you define grace from this passage? 7. What is the gift of God? 8. How does Ephesians 2:10 relate to last week’s verse Galatians 2:20? What are some of the major similarities and/or differences? 9. If good works represent “beautiful and attractive works” what might some of those be? 10. How and why did God prepare us for good works? WRAP-UP: Memorize Ephesians 2:10 How can we pray for each other? What is your NEXT STEP for this week? Whom does God want you to humbly serve? What does being “in Christ Jesus” mean to you? How do you think the church in Ephesus understood to be “in Christ Jesus”? 4. What is the “gift” in Ephesians 2:8? 5. If 2:10 was the blueprint for living the Christian life, what would be the essential elements that would need to be communicated to a new believer? 6. What is the “therefore” in 2:11 therefore? 7. How does the realization of these good works being “prepared beforehand” make you feel? 8. In 2:10 it says that God has prepared good works for us and that we should walk in them. What is the difference between the following two statements; “That we should walk in them” and “That we should do them”? 9. What other verses connect with Ephesians 2:1-10?
