WARM-UP: What question do you have about eternal life? What does the word “believe” mean to you?
WARM-UP: What is the gospel? How do you know this is the gospel? What is eternal life according to Jesus?
WORD-TIME: Read John 20:24-31 1. What does the interchange between Thomas and Jesus teach us about the role of belief in the life of a disciple? What does Jesus teach us about who He is? What does the doubt(s) of Thomas – a fellow disciple – reveal about us? 2. Is it possible for a believer/disciple to have doubts like Thomas? What are some of the hurdles or doubts that you have about Jesus? What evidence would convince you to believe? 3. What does Jesus mean when he says “blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed”? What would be some of the blessings we would possess if we believed more? 4. What does it mean to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God? Have you done that? If not, what is keeping you from believing HE is? 5. Which of the seven “I Am” statements do you find the most inspiring and challenging today?
WORD-TIME: Read John 20:24-31 1. When did Thomas first believe in Jesus? Is it possible for a believer to have doubts? What doubts do you possess as a believer in Jesus? 2. John gave us “Seven Signs” to help us believe that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God. Describe why John chose these signs and how they revealed that Jesus was truly God.

John reveals, over 90 times that the sole condition for eternal life is to believe; 1:12, 3:16, 5:24, 6:40, 11:25-26, etc. Have we changed the condition when we use phrases like repent, commit, surrender, follow and ask Jesus into your heart? Why does John NOT include these phrases in his Gospel? What does his silence mean? 4. John 3:15-17; what are the key elements of life? 5. John 5:24; what are the benefits of eternal life? 6.
