PARADISE POINT SUMMER CAMP The Episcopal Diocese of Idaho McCall, ID
JUNIOR COUNSELOR (JRC) INFORMATION 2014 This packet includes necessary information to make sure you are completely prepared for your stay at Paradise Point. Junior Counselor's responsibilities include getting to know and serve campers as a positive role model, assisting in a variety of camp activities, camp work areas, and working directly with Paradise Point staff in a leadership role. Each day will be spent in the cabins working directly with our experienced staff members and shadowing them throughout the day. JRC's will lead, motivate and provide a safe camp program which fosters children’s social, spiritual, physical, and intellectual growth.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Is this a paid position? Being a JRC is a volunteer, un-paid leadership role in our camp program. Many JRC's list their participation in this program as volunteer experience and we are happy to provide references when needed. Where do JRC's live while at camp? Throughout their stay at camp, JRC's will live in assigned cabins with a staff member and a group of youth campers. What does the daily schedule look like for a JRC? The JRC schedule is the same as it will be for our Counselors. JRC's will assist the Paradise Point Staff in a chosen morning activity and will assist on the waterfront in the afternoon. All other times will be with their cabin. Do JRC's get time off like counselors? No, JRC's are under 18 years old and are not staff members. JRC's are not allowed to be either by themselves or one-on-one with any campers or staff. We will do our best to make sure the JRC's get some "down-time", but they will not get un-supervised time-off like the Paradise Point Staff. Can JRC's drive themselves to camp? Yes, if you have your license you are allowed to drive yourself to and from camp. Once you arrive, your car keys must be given to Marty Beck, Camp Director and you will not be able to use your car during your time at camp. Where do JRC's shower? As a JRC, you will shower at the bath house with the other campers. Staff Bath is not available to anyone that is not a staff member.
