Sacred Heart Reception Newsletter Issue 4– Friday 29th September Thank you to all the parents that attended the phonics workshop– it was lovely to see you and have a catch up as it always seems so busy at home time. We have sent home some information for those parents that were unable to attend. The packs also contain some resources to help you look at sounds at home. Anything you do will make a big difference! Reception Class Learning Update! We have been continuing to work on recognising our names, holding a pencil and attempting to write our names. We have been thinking about our senses. We have been on listening walks and taken part in taste and smelling tests. We have continued with our phonics and numbers every day.
Do you have? If you are out and about this weekend, we would love some sticks, acorns, leaves, conkers etc. to use next week when we look at the story of the stick man! Can we take this opportunity to remind parents of this year’s picking up arrangements in order to prevent children going missing. We will no longer send children to parents at sight. Parents need to stand back in the sports court and wait for children to be brought to the yard. Parents need to walk towards the staff member in turn to collect their child and return to the court. Children not collected will go to the back of the line until all children are collected. Children uncollected will be taken to the front of school for 5 minutes. Children still uncollected will be signed into Heart Zone. Parents need to take responsibility for their children as soon as they are collected as the school cannot take any responsibility for accidents and incidents in the yard after collection. A staff member will always be present on the gate until the final class has been released.
