Sewing Center News Hello Everyone, * I have been contemplating what to write this month. As I pondered I came across a quote that I have always liked. I believe it is true but it seems that in the daily course of life it is easy to forget the truths contained there in. Here is the quote. “We are not put here to audition one another, put someone on trial, or use other people to gratify our own ego needs. We are not here to fix, change, or belittle another person. We are here to support, forgive, and heal one another”. —————- author unknown——————* Are you looking for a way to cheer up your kitchen? Our March Virtual Club is fast approaching. Cordonnet Foot #11 was designed for a specific sewing situation. Bernina worked in conjunction with the Mettler thread company to develop a foot compatible with one of their products, Cordonnet. This thread is a polyester cord-like thread used for topstitching. When using Cordonnet thread, a topstitching needle is required to accommodate it’s thickness.
collection. Our project this year uses jewel tones from the Shadow Play fabric line by Maywood Studios with the background fabric color being black. Visit our website www.prairiestarsquiltshophop.com for more information or stop in and see our quilt! After March 18th you will be able to view each participating shops quilt online. So, mark your calendar for April 12 - 21, call your friends, and begin planning a fun filled road trip as you hop from shop to shop. What a better way to start off SPRING! * Did you know that BERNINA has the most advanced home embroidery software on the market? Did you know that it will work with any brand of embroidery machine not just Bernina?
If you are an embroidery enthusiast
you need BERNINA’S Embroidery Software!
Our
software can read and save all types of embroidery files as well as write them directly to your machine or a USB stick if your machine has these capabilities and this is only the start of it’s capabilities (which are to numerous to mention here). Come in and see what BERNINA & Sunflower Creations can do for you and take your embroidery skills
When attempting to sew with Cordonnet thread using Foot #0 or #1, the sole sits on the thread and inhibits its movement. The thread feeds freely under Embroidery Foot #6 or Open Embroidery Foot #20, but the wide indentions on the soles of these feet allow the thread to move from side to side, creating the potential for irregular stitches. Foot #11 is specifically designed with a deep 2 mm groove on its sole to allow the topstitching thread to move freely and feed correctly. The groove can also be used to guide cord running under the fabric, holding it in place as the stitches secure it. Even though the foot was designed for topstitching with Cordonnet thread, it is useful for other stitching techniques as well. Couching, covering wire, and sashiko are all techniques involving narrow cord or wire, items easily accommodated by Foot #11.
