ATTENDING: Andy Biggs, Brian Wicke, Janeann Muller, Amy Juers, Amy Patnode, Karen Matthews, Julie Rushton Parents/Players Meeting Brian Wicke opened the meeting discussing: OPEN Board seats Went through the agenda and identified key dates: Booster Club fees $200.00 – DUE by November 10th (send checks payable to Simley Girls Hockey Booster Club to Janeann Muller at 8329 Carew Court, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076) ** Covers the cost of Captains Practice ice times this year. Winter sports registration fees available on Schoolview Feepay –DUE by October 28th Andy Biggs went over the Booster Fees Description: Special events Pasta team dinners Banquet Apparel (new players, Booster Club purchases 1st set – replacements thereafter at parent expense) Goalie stipend Locker room upkeep/renovations Booster Club operates on approximately $25,000.00 annually, aiming to raise $30,000.00 Amy Patnode brought in samples of optional team apparel long with Team warm-up for players to try on and place orders. DUE by October 5th Madi Matthews is selling Love Your Melon hats for $30.00 for her National Honor Society project – these are optional (All proceeds will go towards the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund) Amy Juers –Website Coordinator discussed 2 websites for Parents and Players 1) NEW-SIMLEYATHLETICS.com – contains the game schedules, people can sign up for alerts, changes outside of the Boosters. 2) Main web-page – through the IGH Hockey Association (ighha.org) – contains all important dates for Booster activities and other things outside of the game schedule such as captain’s practices, due date for fees and registration and volunteer opportunities. 1
Coach Patnode updates: Stressed the importance for all parents to be involved in the Booster program-this benefits the whole team, both JV and Varsity. Introduced the Team Captains: Reegan Patnode, Madi Matthews, Anna Royce and Maddie Wicke Agreement has been worked out with The Grove, $100.00 annually (paid by the Boosters) JV boys and girls will have their own locker room NEED 8 players Wednesday, September 28th from 4:30 to 7:30 (The Stanley Cup will be at the VMCC West Rink on Wed Sept 28 from 5 Pm - 7 Pm) Summer program is evolving time spent off-ice provided players with increased speed and endurance. 2 new events were included a 40 yard dash and the long-jump. In 6 weeks players improved 67% long-jump and 96% speed Important for all players to shoot pucks regularly outside of practice Based on current counts the hockey program should see between 19 – 23 girls trying out. More if prior player return Thank Anna Royce for helping with TRY HOCKEY – and how her efforts tied to the Spartan VALUES Spartan VALUES : o Attitude o Service o Trust o Character o Tough Team is your family-we support one another Captains practice – Boosters paying for weeks 1&2, High School paying for week 3 Teams will have 5 weeks of practice prior to the first game Coach Nate Kazek has taken another job and will not be coaching – (welcome back if his schedule allows) Kari, Bobby, Nikki and Tom will be returning coaches Luke and Jeff will be our 2 goalie coaches TRYOUTS – October 31st through November 2nd Practice times 3:00 – 5:30: There is a student bus that takes players from the school to the Grove, parents will need to pick up or arrange rides. The Team Captains will get their phone numbers out to the players and set up a dedicated group messaging so under classmen can contact the older players for riders both to the Grove and home (parents allowing) REMINDER – the coaches door is ALWAYS open if there are any issues Identifies the 4 pillars (CoachABILITY, PracticeABILITY, GameABILITY and InspireABILITY 3 NEW items; o We now have a JV locker room o There will be a caged area in the West Rink for practice o We have a holiday out of town tournament the end of December Karen Matthews reminded everyone again about fundraising and will send out more information regarding our upcoming events. We work to get both parents and players involved in raising funds for the team. Sales Blitz – still need parents to drive (Impact Fundraising Cards) Sponsor Partner Program Gerten’s Spaghetti Dinner Chuck-A-Puck (sign-ups are on the IGH Hockey Association website under DIBS) Julie Rushton reminded everyone that the Booster Club is a 501c3 organization (non-profit tax deductable). Company United Way programs may allow designations Companies additionally may have matching gift dollars Brian closed the meeting reminding Parents to complete the Waiver, meeting adjourned. 2
