Uses 2 different fabrics in a 6 inch (9 inch, 12 inch) quilt block Cut Fabric A – Center and ring focal fabric 1 square – 2 ½ inches (3 ½ inches, 4 ½ inches) 4 squares – 2 3/8 inches (3 inches, 4 inches) 1 strip – 1 1/2 X 10 inches 2 X 14 inches, 2 1/2 X 18 inches) Fabric B – Background fabric 8 squares – 2 ½ inches (3 inches, 4 inches) then cut diagonally, resulting in 16 triangles 1 strip – 1 1/2 X 10 inches 2 X 14 inches, 2 1/2 X 18 inches) Start by constructing the half square block. Take the 1½ inch strip of Fabric A and the 1½ inch strip of Fabric B and sew the long length of the 2 fabrics together using a ¼ inch seam.
Press open toward the darker fabric. Then cut into 4 squares measuring 2 ½ inches (3 ½ inches, 4 ½ inches)
With the 4 Fabric A squares, make square in square blocks. Working opposite sides, sew Fabric B triangles onto the Fabric A 2 3/8 inch squares. Lay the long side (hypotenuse) of the triangle along one of the sides of the patterned square. Center the triangle and square so that the ends of the triangle extend beyond the square equally on both sides.
Sew together leaving a ¼ inch seam allowance. Repeat on the opposite side.
Press open.
Trim the points.
Sew triangle on the remaining 2 sides.
Press open.
Trim to 2 ½ inches (3 ½ inches, 4 ½ inches) leaving ¼ past the points of the center square to be used for seam allowance and that the center square is oriented exactly on the diagonal.
Lay out all 9 -‐ 2 ½ inch blocks as illustrated.
Sew the top 3 squares together, the middle 3 squares together and the bottom 3 squares together.
Press the top and bottom rows toward the center and the middle row toward the outer squares.
Sew all three rows together. This is the Single Wedding Ring Quilt Block
