2/7 – Next General Meeting at 7:30 (Polish Club) NOTE NEW DATE
CBSL is happy to announce that spring registration opened up on 1/20/17 for the 2017 season! Registration will run through the end of February and will be entirely online at www.cbsl.org. Specific information will be released shortly about evaluations for each league, but plan on the weekends of 3/4 and 3/11 for evaluations.
3/4 - Spring evaluations begin
In-person registrations for those who cannot sign-up online will take place prior to the Feb General Meeting (2/7) at 6:30.

January General Meeting Notes • Fall / Winter Training and Clinics – Clinics for players/coaches are being planned and the league is soliciting input for ideas for training and clinics at this time. Please email
[email protected] with any suggestions you may have. As training selections are finalized, they will be posted on our website at www.cbsl.org. • Sponsorships – We have looked at past sponsorships, pulled from BBB for lists of businesses. We are looking for help contacting businesses, or anyone who has contacts somewhere to avoid cold calling. If you are willing to help or have contacts – you can contact Chris Gould at
[email protected]. • Apparel ordering is back online (see page 5) • Fundraising – many ideas discussed such as a minor concession stand at Cody Camp or at RecPlex. (basic table set-up with candy bars, water bottles, sodas). Need volunteer to look into this idea. Other fundraising ideas on Page 4. • General Meeting notes continued on page 4.
Training and Clinics SOFTBALL PITCHERS and CATCHERS!!! 1st
Our softball pitching and catching clinics have been a great success so far. We have 16 girls practicing weekly at Power in Training (PiT) in Niantic. The girls are working on Issue #6 pitching mechanics, drills for proper catching techniques, and hitting/bunting. January 2017
Training and Clinics FIRST TIME COACHING OVERVIEW & CLINIC We are always looking for coaches and managers…. Are you interested in trying it out? Not sure what is involved? Join us for an informal session where existing coaches and managers will discuss what running a team entails – answering you questions along the way. We encourage anyone interested in coaching to attend! No sign-up required. DATES and TIMES coming soon!
SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL HITTING CLINICS Working with local facilities and instructors, we are lining up “knock the rust off” sessions for both boys and girls. Likely 4 weekly sessions, broken into different age-groups, these sessions will focus on hitting techniques and proper practice regiments and would have a nominal entry fee. Interested in learning the basics about being an umpire? CBSL has many January opportunities for residents age 16 and older 2017 to umpire softball and baseball games. We are always looking for interested people. More detailed information to come.
Fundraising 1st Annual CBSL Raffle CBSL is launching its first ever CBSL raffle. This raffle will be run throughout the beginning of the spring season and will help fund very specific field January 2017 Issue #6 maintenance and repairs, as well as support the acquisition of various baseball and softball equipment. More details to come soon!
