Intramural Sports Kickball Tournament Rules EVERY INTRAMURAL PARTICIPANT MUST HAVE A CURRENT TCU ID IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. BEFORE EVERY EVENT YOUR TEAMS TCU ID’S WILL BE CHECKED BY THE SCORE KEEPER. Number of players: Two teams consisting of 10 players each will play the game. A minimum of 8 players must be present to avoid a forfeit. Eligibility: Current TCU students, faculty, and staff are eligible to participate. A player may only participate on one men’s or women’s team. They may also play on one co-rec team. Rosters: Rosters will be comprised of a maximum of 16 players. Rosters are locked after your first tournament game. Team Captain’s: Each team will designate to the umpire a team captain. That captain will be the spokesperson for that team. They are the only person allowed to speak with the officials. Coaches may not be captains. Time: *Game time is forfeit time. A team must have a minimum of 8 team members present and ready to participate at the scheduled game time in order to avoid a forfeit. 1. A legal game consists of five (5) innings or a 45-minute time limit, which ever comes first. A new inning will not begin after 45-minutes from the beginning of a game. 2. RUN RULE: A 20 run rule will apply after 3 innings, 15 run rule after 4 innings, and 10 run rule after 5 innings. (4 ½ innings if home team is ahead.)
Overtime: If after 5 innings or 45-minutes the game is tied an extra full inning will be played until there is a winner. Equipment: 1. Proper athletic attire required. 2. No Jewelry may be worn during Intramural Competition. Pitching: 1. Pitcher must have one foot touching the rubber at release. 2. No defender can play in front of 1st – 3rd base diagonal before ball is kicked. 3. A pitched ball that bounces 1 foot or more over the plate is a ball, a pitch outside of the marked strike zone is a ball, unless kicked at. 4. Counts start 0-0, 3 strikes for an out, 4 balls for a walk. One courtesy foul is allowed, meaning if you have 2 strikes, you can foul a kick off, the next one is an out. 5. A kick that is touched twice by the kicker is ruled a foul, a kick that is kicked in front of home plate is ruled a foul. Kicking: 1. All kicks must be made below the knee, if not it is a foul. 2. All kicks must be made on or behind home plate. 3. Bunting is NOT allowed. A full kick must be attempted. A foul is called if a bunt is attempted. Fairs/Fouls: 1. Baseball/Softball rules apply here. Outs: 1. 3 outs end an inning. 2. An out is: a. Any kicked ball caught in the air by a fielder. b. A ball tag of the base a runner is forced to. (you don’t actually have to tag the base) c. A runner touched by the ball while off base. They could be tagged or hit by throw or kick. d. A runner who is off the base before ball is kicked. e. All other baseball/softball rules apply to outs. Running/Scoring: 1. Runners must stay within baseline. 2. No lead offs, no stealing.
3. Overthrow /tagging up rules same as baseball/softball. 4. Scoring rules same as baseball/softball. CO-REC MODIFICATIONS 1. Teams cannot have more than 5 males. 2. Defensive players can play any position in the field. 3. Female batters may bat directly after each other, males MAY NOT bat directly after each other.
