22nd January 2016 Future Events: Year 2 braved the cold weather this week, wrapping up warm in gloves and hats then squeezed their safety helmets over the top! This was all so that they could take part in the stabiliser free lessons with Dr Bike. First they had to push the bikes along without any pedals or stabilisers, then the had to balance for as long as they could. Once they could balance, they were allowed one pedal back but it was tricky because they had to pedal with one foot and balance with the other! The children had lots of fun and Dr Bike was very kind and helpful. They can’t wait for next week’s session! If your child is in Year 2 and would like to learn to ride their bike without stabilisers, please collect a form from the office before next Thursday. As always, more pictures are in the gallery of the website.
Tuesday 26th—Year 5 visit to library Thursday 28th—Y2 ‘Stabilizer Free’ workshop Year 6 were visited by Hebburn Sea Cadets this week to find out about all of the exciting opportunities and activities they provide. Claire was so impressed with our children she emailed Mrs Hutchinson and Miss Orr: “Just a note to say thank you so much for having me over yesterday. Your pupils are an absolute delight and I really enjoyed our session…” We have already had 6 children enquire about joining the Cadets—if you would like more information please contact the office.
The ‘Read for my school’ National Competition started this week for all KS2 children. It is a fun competition that promotes the enjoyment of reading and gives the children free access to over 100 popular books in a variety of categories. Already, as a school, we have read a lot of books and Alisha in Year 6 has submitted a wonderful essay about one of them. Well done to everyone who has taken part so far, lets see how many books we can read as a school! Please see the website if your child has lost his or her login details
Remembe r, we are aiming to be above 9 5% as a sc hool! Every school day counts!
