JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP REPLAY Valley Rovers 1.09 V’s Crosshaven 1.16 Valley Rovers completed a South East junior hurling double when won the junior B hurling title last Sunday in Ballinaspittle. From the start Valley’s were the better team and lead at half time 1.07 to 0.06 the Valleys goal coming from Ronan Lehane. The second half was a tighter affair with some excellent hurling being played but it was Valley’s ability to get goals that proved to be the winning of the game. Credit here goes to the Valleys forward line but also to the Valleys defense where Ciaran Cronin in goal and Sean Lynch and Chris Hayes were outstanding. At the end the scoreline read Valleys 3.11 to Belgooly 0.14, the Valleys 2nd half goals coming from Cathal Dart O’Flynn and Robert Sean Sweetnam.

MINOR Valleys U18 footballers have qualified for the county Semi Final of the Premier 2A Football Championship. In the first round we played Carrigaline and recorder a comfortable victory on a score-line of 6-16 to 1-08. This was a good performance playing some nice football. In the next round we faced a fancied Kilshannig side, this turned out a tight game with very little between the sides, Valleys lead at halftime 1-04 to 0-06, our scores coming from Cian Crowley 1-00 and a point apiece for Cathal Manning, Jack Crowley, Adam Healy and Darragh O Shea. The second half was again fiercely contested by both sides, we got the first two points scored by Cathal Manning and Cian Crowley then Kilshannig hit a purple patch scoring the next five points to lead by two 0-11 to 1-06. Valleys responded scoring a brilliant second goal through Cathal Manning after receiving a superb pass from Jack Crowley. This was followed by a point from Darragh O Shea to put Valleys two points up, Kilshanning got the next point to leave the bare minimum between the sides heading in to injury time, Kilshannig were awarded a free with the last kick of the game but the effort sailed narrowly wide. This was a great victory for our young side, showing the spirit and determination associated with all Valleys sides, while also playing some fine football. Cathal O Sullivan was solid in goal, our backs who were superbly lead by Dave Muckian and Shane Lynch were rock solid, Niall Lawton worked tirelessly at midfield ably assisted by Conor Hurley,up front Cathal Manning was in sparkling form with Cian Crowley, Jack Crowley, Sean Barry and Michael Connolly also putting in great performances. Team: Cathal O Sullivan Dave Muckian, Jack Higgins, Sean Lynch Matt Crowley, Shane Lynch, Darragh O Shea, Niall Lawton, Conor Hurley, Sean Barry, Jack Crowley, Adam Kenneally, Cathal Manning, Cian Manning, Adam Healy. UNDER 16’s

Our U16 footballers travelled to Carrigaline last Saturday to contest the P2 football championship final against Glanmire. Glanmire got off to the better start and were leading 1-4 to 0-0 after 12 mins. Valleys came into the game and points from Conor Taheny and Aaron O' Leary got things going. A superb solo goal from the outstanding Darragh O'Shea brought it back to a point. Glanmire kicked two further point to lead at half time 1-7 to 1-4. Valleys started the second half brightly, two points from Conor Taheny and one from Aaron O'Leary inside the first three minutes brought valleys back on level terms. Valleys kept up the pressure and some excellent defending by all defenders kept Glanmire at bay, only conceding one point in the second half. Valleys kicked on and points from Ronan O'Connell, Aaron O'Leary, Adam Walsh Murphy and a great goal from centre back Adam Kenneally saw valleys run out winners 2-12 to 1-8. This was an outstanding achievement from an outstanding panel of players who won the P2 hurling last year and then the football this year. Captain Brian Hoey accepted the cup from the rebel Og chairman after the game on behalf of the panel.

*IMPORTANT NOTICE* INNISHANNON PITCH UNDER REPAIR

IRISH COLLEGE

Grass seed has been set in the Bleach pitch, in the area that has been worked on recently. It is important not to walk on the area that has been seeded, to give the seed a chance to germinate; over the course of the next few weeks. If anyone walks on the seeded area, seed will stick to their shoes, boots or runners and the seed will become displaced causing uneven grass growth, which will affect the quality of the eventual grassed pitch surface. All mentors and teams are hereby being asked to walk around the seeded area to avoid damage, to get to their training / playing location. Fencing has been erected to guide you, to avoid walking on the seeded areas. Training and games should occur as far away from the seeded area as possible, to avoid balls / sliotars going on to the seeded area, resulting in players / mentors having to walk on the seeded areas to retrieve the balls / sliotars and therefore causing long term damage. If club members do notice anybody walking on the seeded area, please ask them to stay outside the fenced off area. The purpose of the works was to rectify damage to the pitch following a flood event. Whilst we were completing the rectification works, we have taken the opportunity to widen and realign the pitch. The existing goalposts have been taken down and will be painted and will be re-erected, in early course. New pitch lighting will also be erected along the sideline, nearest the dressing rooms / Parish Hall. Your cooperation in relation to the above is appreciated in advance.

Please find attached to this email, an Application form which includes details of this years Gaeltacht scholarship scheme. Note that this updated GAA scholarship Application Form is required by the college with every application. This is important in order to verify the applications and to enforce the scheme on a first come first served basis. Please also be aware that the Cork scholarship scheme applies to Coláiste na Mumhan, Béal Átha'n Ghaorthaidh ONLY and does not apply to any other Gaeltacht college.
