1 VISION STATEMENT BY BAIDOO BONSOE SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL Date: 19th November 2015 Venue: Kingstel Hotel, Takoradi -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mr. Chairman, in most successful education cultures in the world, it is the system that is responsible for the success of the student, not solely the parent, not solely the student, not solely the teacher. The culture creates the system. The mission statement and goals for the education sector as stated on page five of The Development of Education – National Report of Ghana by the Basic Education Division of the GES presented at the 47th Session of the International Conference on Education, Geneva states that: “The mission of the Ministry of Education is to provide relevant education to all Ghanaians at all levels to enable them to acquire skills that will assist them to develop their potential to be productive so as to facilitate poverty reduction and promote socio-economic growth and national development.” According to Article 25 (2) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, “Secondary education in its different forms, including technical and vocational education, shall be made generally available and accessible to all by every appropriate means, and in particular, by the progressive introduction of free education.” Our vision for Ghana is to create extremely effective community schools that are not only well regarded for their creativity and their active contribution to serving and improving the community in which they operate, but also train the next generation of rural teachers to operate in such areas. We need to create a national education system with carefully programmed instruction that produces major gains in student achievement and helps make the areas in which they are located much more pleasant places to live and work. The Korean model, the Singaporean model and the Malaysian model are a few examples of functional models. Thank you!
