ABOUT TODAY’S GAMES
• Today is a rematch of last season’s PSAC Championship game. While Millersville is in line for its third consecutive PSAC East title, Kutztown is battling just to get into the postseason. The Golden Bears have the second-fewest wins in the PSAC East but a successful series agains the Marauders could close the gap on Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg. Millersville is two up in the win column on West Chester with eight league games left on the schedule. The schedule sets up favorably for the Marauders as the final two series are against the bottom two teams in the division. • At No. 20, Millersville has reached its highest ranking of the season in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll. They are also ranked No. 21 in the NCBWA Poll. • Millersville has three players--David Summerfield (8th), Dan Stoltzfus (9th) and Chas McCormick (13th)--ranked in the PSAC’s top 15 in batting average. Stoltzfus has hit in 21 consecutive games and has a RBI in 10 in a row. The program’s hitting streak record was set at 23 in 1990 by Mike Van Gavree. Stoltzfus has two or more hits in six of the last 10 games. He has also driven in two or more runs in six of the last eight. • Chris Murphy has established himself as the favorite for a third consecutive PSAC East Pitcher of the Year Award. He ranks second in the league in ERA, first in wins, second in innings pitched and seventh in strikeouts. One challenger is Kutztown’s Paul Priomali. He owns a 1.94 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 37 innings.
