The Pac-12 Conference Track & Field Combined Events Championships are Saturday and Sunday, May 5 & 6, at Stanford’s Cobb Track & Angell Field... 88th Annual Pac-12 Men’s and 32nd Pac-12 Women’s Championships...WSU competitors in the Combined Events are Alissa Brooks-Johnson and Lindsey Schauble in the heptathlon, and Martin Moldau in the decathlon...BrooksJohnson won the Pac-12 Heptathlon in 2017 and 2015...more info on pages 3 & 4...events begin at Noon Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday...Live Results can be viewed at www.pac-12.org...individual events and team relays at Pac-12 T&F Championships take place May 12-13, at Stanford. WAYNE PHIPPS, DIR. OF WSU CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK & FIELD Wayne Phipps (University of British Columbia ‘91) is in his fourth season with the Washington State track and field program...Phipps led the Cougar men’s cross country program back-to-back-to-back NCAA Championships at-large berth appearances...Cougs finished 21st in 2017, 14th in 2016 - the highest in 32 years, and 26th in 2015....in track and field seasons, mentored studentathletes to WSU top-ten performances 35 times in the indoor season and 47 times in the outdoor season....there have also been conference all-academic honors awarded to WSU student-athletes 51 times in cross country, 88 times in indoor track and 86 times in outdoor track...Phipps became the 15th men’s coach and the second coach for the combined men’s and women’s program at WSU on July 1, 2014, after 19 years at the University of Idaho...while at Idaho, Phipps was honored 14 times as a conference coach of the year and led the Vandals to a record 16 conference titles. HIGHLIGHTS FROM WSU’S SWEEP OF WASHINGTON IN THE DUAL MEET APRIL 28 For the first time since 2010, WSU men’s and women’s teams defeated both Washington teams April 28 in a dual meet...99th men’s dual WSU 89 UW 74, 39th women’s dual WSU 88 UW 75...women’s highlights included Alissa Brooks-Johnson with four wins in six events: high jump (1.66m/5-5 1/4), 100m hurdles (13.73), 400m hurdles (58.05) and anchored 4x100m relay (45.28)...other WSU women’s wins: javelin - Atina Kamasi PR 53.36m/175-1 - 2nd-best in WSU all-time), triple jump - Greer Alsop (meet record/PR 12.70m/41-8), hammer - Aoife Martin (PR 56.12m/1841 - sixth-best all-time), 100m - Regyn Gaffney (11.69), 5000m - Vallery Korir (16:37.66), pole vault - Molly Scharmann (3.98m/13-0 3/4), and long jump - Lauren Newman (PR 5.88m/19-3 1/2w)...WSU men winning in the dual were: 100m - Zach Smith (10.59), 200m - Zach Smith (21.45),1500m - Chandler Teigen (3:50.82), 110m hurdles - Nick Johnson (PR 13.97), 400m hurdles - Christapherson Grant (PR 53.15), high jump - Peyton Fredrickson (2.08m/6-9 3/4), pole vault - Sander Moldau (5.01m/16-5 1/4), triple jump - Robby Flores (PR 15.17m/49-9 1/4), and hammer - Brock Eager (66.68m/218-9).

NCAA DESCENDING ORDER LISTS The NCAA uses national and regional descending order lists to determine the competitors for the 2018 Outdoor Championships...these lists can be viewed at the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Results Reporting System website (www.tfrrs.org)...the top 48 in each individual event and the top 24 declared relay teams are accepted the East or West Region Preliminary Rounds...West Region Prelims are May 24-26, in Sacramento... twelve competitors from each individual event and 12 teams from each relay event advance to the national championships...for the decathlon and heptathlon, the top 24 declared student-athletes in each of these two events will be accepted into the national championships and do not compete at the Regional meets...WSU’s 2018 outdoor season bests marks can be found at www.wsucougars.com. EAGER NAMED PAC-12 MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK WSU’s Brock Eager (redshirt junior, Renton, Wash.) was the Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week (March 12-18) after his stellar opening hammer throw at the USC Trojan Invitational meet of 66.50m/218-2 to capture first place among the 13 competitors...mark leads the Pac-12, the NCAA West Region, and is fifth-best nationally...won the 2018 MPSF Indoor Championships 35-pound weight throw title...reigning Pac-12 hammer champion...All-America second team....lifetime-best hammer throw of 68.66m/225-3 (2017).
