Kindergarten Readiness • June 6th deadline for data collection to be returned to Stan • June 28, 9:00 – 12:00 noon for data review to set threshold for “kindergarten readiness” • Kindergarten Readiness cards – Being printed and will begin distribution soon to parents and care givers. – 15 activities in each set; 10 sets total; different activities – 5 sets required basic home materials and 5 sets are things parents can do with out materials. – They will be placed in laundry mats, DHS, doctors offices and other various locations where families with children visit

• Child care / preschool teachers have an opportunity for a free Brigance training on May 10th. After completion of the training, they will receive a Brigance Kit.

Reading by Third Grade • Workgroup is preparing a pilot summer reading assessment on comprehension – TECH Summer Camp – Boys’ and Girls’ Club – Christian Family Center – YMCA of Lenawee County

• Considering a common template for current assessments, purposes, and targets

Post Secondary Enrollment • Monitoring FAFSA completions using SSG site • Incentive for LCEF scholarships by supplying information about FAFSA Completion • Next October, prior financial year data can be used • College Application Month will provide more contact with students throughout the year • Use of credential data to add to the numerator of postsecondary completion • Signing Day/Week – highlighting the decisions made by Class of 2016 Seniors

School Attendance • Through April 2016, – 2082 with 10 or more full days absences – 465 students at 20 or more days full days absences – 1317 students at 10% of full school days

• Total at the end of 2014-15, – 1572 students with 10% of more absences

• Chris presented at MPAAA Conference on Lenawee work on uniform policy and procedures • Possible change for 17 year-olds to receive adjudication through juvenile courts

MI-PHy • Schools continue to complete their assessments • Data results in late June

LCEF Scholarships • Increase in the number of applications and completions • Scholarship Express, FAFSA awareness, and follow up with schools helped with the increase • Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at Dawson Auditorium at Adrian College

Reverse Job Fair

Students had prepared resumes, business cards, and samples of their work at the table. Employers were given a program that listed each students’ credentials.

Dugger, Executive Director, Washtenaw Educational Options Consortium • Database containing information on hundreds of occupation-specific descriptors. • Available to the public at no cost • Continually updated by surveying workers from each occupation. • Also provides Career Exploration Tools, instruments for workers and students looking to find or change careers • The Occupational Information Network (O*NET) is being developed under the sponsorship of the US Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration (USDOL/ETA)
