2013 WGSL ALL-STARS – Opened by Request (A.Benitez) STATUS: OPEN 5/7/2013

The following points/issues where discussed regarding the upcoming All-Star selection/tournament. o Feedback on WGSL All-Star try-outs was that it was too soon to make the commitment. o Not many girls have signed up at this time for All-Stars try-outs. o No coordinator stepped up. o If there are not enough girls signed up then does the League go back to a coach selection process for AllStars? o League will have one 10U team for All-Stars. o A.Benitez posed the question; should the League have two 12U All-Star teams? Suggestion from Erich Thurow was to have an 11 year old team and a 12 year old team, if the League goes with two 12U teams. Dan White suggests that if the League is going to have one 12U team then there should be a try-out but if there is to be two 12U teams then the League should go with the coach selection. Feedback from most of those in attendance is to have one team for 12U. o An email will be sent out indicating that the League will not have a try out for All-Stars and that there will be a coach selection procedure for All-Star teams.

6/4/2013

The following points/issues where discussed regarding the upcoming All-Star selection/tournament. o Tournament has been posted on Tournament.com website o 8U will participate in Woodstock & McHenry tournaments; 10U will be entered into 3 tournaments (LITH, Woodstock & McHenry); 12U will be entered into 3 tournaments (LITH, Woodstock & McHenry), 15U will participate in Woodstock & McHenry tournaments. o A discussion took place indicating that the most reasonable selection process for All-Stars would be to have coach selection. o It was suggested and decided that All-Stars for 10U and 12U would be to have the 4 head coaches and the st 1 4 assistant coaches rank the girls signed up for All-Stars on a scale of 1 through 5 with 5 being the best. There would be an open discussion similar to that of the regular season draft. o Coaches, assistant coaches and board members to meet at Bates on 6/8 @ 8:00am to complete All-Star selections o Another email with the deadline of 6/7 will go out for All-Star sign-up. o Nominations for coaches was conducted: 8U – Kyle Schultz & Chris Dimico 10U – Joe Ryan & Keith Benedict 12U - Dan White
