WPX Energy specializes in producing natural gas, natural gas liquids and oil from non-conventional resources such as tight-sands and shale formations.

We were previously a wholly owned subsidiary of Williams. We became a separate, independent company at year-end 2011.
•P lanning 37 Gallup oil wells in 2014, with expected production of 8,400 bbl/d on an equivalent basis by year-end •O ur fastest drilling time for a Gallup oil well is just 14.6 days – more than twice as fast as our first Gallup well

Our office in Aztec, N.M., employs 58 people. These individuals have more than 500 years of service with the company.

Economic Benefits
This staff supports our activities in the San Juan Basin where we have 159,000 net acres under lease. Our operations are located in four counties: San Juan, Rio Arriba, Sandoval and La Plata, Colo.
•2 012 recipient of the Cooperative Excellence award from the state BLM for a three-year environmental study
Our Local Story
Locally, we operate approx. 880 natural gas wells and hold a joint ownership interest in another 2,400 wells. We are also developing a new oil discovery.
•W inner of the Carson National Forest 2012 stewardship award, presented by the U.S. Forest Service •G arnered state BLM honor for protecting fish habitat in the San Juan River • T wice recognized by the state BLM for making improvements to public roads
