Meeting was called to order at 7:10 by Commissioner Mike Robole. Guests Potential Board Members Jeff Leuhrs – Not Confirmed (Fields / Uniforms) Brad Sonnenburg – Not Confirmed (Tournaments) Tiffany LaBahn – Confirmed (Website) Tom Cardella – Not Confirmed (Commissioner) Emily Amundson – Not Confirmed (Uniforms) Old Business Discussed roles of outgoing board members so incoming board members could learn about the roles. Brian O. motioned to change rule that you cannot be the age group coordinator if you have a child in that age group. Trevor H. seconded. Motion approved. Recruiting for open board positions – still in need of a few additional board members
Review / Approve meeting minutes from Aug – Brian S. motioned to approve. Brian O. seconded – with the change in board chart at end of minutes to reflect Kirby Hoeft as Fields Director Positive Coaching Alliance – Rep looking for an update. Mike R. told him the new board will address this.
Board Reports: 13-15 Age Group Coordinator – no report 10-12 Age Group Coordinator – no report Treasurer – reviewed recent transactions Secretary – no report Concessions – no report Equipment – no report Fields – suggestions for new board to consider: more mounds for Quarry Point (the new longer mounds), larger storage shed, upgrades to fields and dugouts at VMS, upgrades to the batting cages at VMS, portable hitting screens for pregame batting practice. Kirby has been evaluating equipment and the tractors. Tournament Registrar – no report Tournament Coordinator – no report Uniform Coordinator – Tom P. motioned to use BIG and Russel for uniforms, Brian S. seconded. Motion passes. Tryout Coordinator – no report Website Coordinator – no report New Business City plan regarding VMS Dugouts - City contacted Mike R. regarding building new dugouts at VMS for $1000 per dugout. Mike agreed to split the cost of the dugouts for the three fields AVTB uses – cost $1500. VAA will cover the remaining cost. Injured player Insurance claim / coach training – we will establish coaches safety training and support the family in going back to the VAA board to follow up with them and/or pursue with insurance. Discussion about establishing a safety code of conduct. 2015 Winter Clinic – potential winter clinic two options: 1) every other week at The Cages based on age group similar to what we’ve done in the past; and 2) every other week pitching clinic run back to back with the standard clinic. Only time open is Sunday AM. The Cages would run the clinic. Another option would be to partner up with Eastview. Jeremy is also planning to run a clinic.
