AYSO Region 599 Board Meeting Minutes October 17, 2016 Attendees: June McIvor, Duane Hall, Zack Self, Heather Billing, David Marshall, Laurie Grauel, John Freeman, Maggie Browning, Todd Cooper, Brad Dolezal, Nick Drews, Callie Boller, Bryan Krill Guests: Beth O’Connor, George Jefferson, Jeanne Webber, Laura Spiering, Michelle Shoresman
Call to Order & Intro – June McIvor @ 6:30 September Minutes – motion / approved by board Board Report – June McIvor o Nicholas Drews nominated as Treasurer: upon motion by John Freeman, second by Duane Hall, unanimously approved. o Heather Billing nominated as current Assistant Regional Commissioner and to take over as Regional Commissioner upon approval by the AYSO National Board: upon motion by Maggie Browning, second by Zack Self, unanimously approved. o Nicholas Drews and Heather Billing to be added to the AYSO Region 599 bank accounts at Rabobank, (along with June McIvor) and the removal of Bryan Krill and Lourinda Brouwer from the accounts: upon motion by David Marshall, second by Duane Hall, unanimously approved All Stars – David Marshall and June McIvor o June briefly discussed the coach selection process measurable criteria (7 categories) guided the decisions made by the selection committee coaches have been conditionally selected (posted on the website) o Guests to the meeting were given the opportunity to speak The guests were there to support a coach who submitted an application, but was not selected o After guests were excused the board discussed the circumstances surrounding the decision o Coaches were listed by division, and the board was given the opportunity to support or oppose: Slates GU10, motion /second / approved by Board (Brad Dolezal abstained) GU12, motion /second / approved by Board (Brad Dolezal abstained) GU14, motion /second / approved by Board (Brad Dolezal abstained) BU10, motion /second / approved by Board (Brad Dolezal abstained) BU12, motion /second / approved by Board (Brad Dolezal, Zack Self, Laurie Grauel, Todd Cooper abstained) BU14, motion / second / approved by Board (Brad Dolezal abstained) For coaches that weren’t selected, it was recommended that the areas of deficiency be communicated to the coaches and they are given an opportunity to correct them and/or be an assistant coach: Motion / second / approved by Board (Brad Dolezal abstained) o Evaluation/Information Day rescheduled to Laguna Middle School on October 23rd Treasurer’s Report – Nick Drews o Books are in order, above what we projected for the year Referees – Duane Hall o Coverage slowly improving o Certification course on October 27th (Maggie suggested that they re-iterate how to fill out a game card) Coaches – Maggie Browning o One U-10 and one U-8 coach still need to be field trained o Section Rules - Concussion Awareness training must be completed every two years, if coaches don’t meet this requirement, they will not be advancing to Sunday play at the EOS Tourney Regional Commissioner’s Report – June McIvor o Pictures – October 22nd @ Hawthorne; make up date October 19th o Volunteer Dinner –November 10 @ Madonna Inn o Surf and Turf - June is starting the process, will get the committee together soon o Registration - Promote at the end of season; possibly a flyer / reminder to include in picture packets Next Meeting – November 21st @ 6:30PM SLO Business Center Adjournment – 8:28 PM
