T-Shirt Quilt Meg Forster Thursday, February 12, 10:00am to 11:30am Thursday, February 19, 10:00am to 4:00 pm First class/fusing Demo: You do not need to bring any supplies except pencil & paper for taking notes CLASS SUPPLY LIST Sewing machine in working order with cord and foot pedal; bring to class for both the 2nd and 3rd class. Plus routine sewing supplies – pins, scissors, seam ripper, neutral piecing thread T-shirts: (No more than 5 – 25 shirts, depending on how large you want your quilt, and on how large the logo(s) are). Please be sure t-shirts are washed. DO NOT CUT T-SHIRTS UNTIL AFTER FUSING DEMO! Lightweight knit fusible stabilizer (“French fuse” – 3/4 yard is enough for approximately eight (8) t-shirts); available at the Cotton Patch! Applique pressing sheet, required 6 X 24” ruler AND either 12 ½, 15 ½” or larger square ruler Rotary cutter – with new blade; rotary cutter mat (18X24” works well) Marking tools: ordinary or mechanical pencil; chalk marking pencil FABRIC: Choice and approximate amount of fabrics will be discussed at the fusing demo. Take a look at fabrics at the shop before first class, just for ideas of colors and themes. LAYOUT: There will be 2 layouts from which you will choose to make your quilt. A sample of each will be shown and explained in class. Please do not bring in another layout design to use. This is a basic class in working with tshirts and preparing them for use in a quilt. It is strongly suggested that you purchase your class supplies at Cotton Patch Quilt Shop to insure you have the proper items.
