The Gracie Handbag is one of Lazy Girl Designs easiest bags to sew. If you have never made a handbag but wanted to try, this is the bag for you. Gracie is fully line with six inside pockets and has a flap closure secured with Velcro or a magnet. The Gracie Handbag is 15” wide by 10” high. This bag is not appropriate for directional prints.
Gracie Handbag pattern 7/8-yard fabric for outer panels and handles ¼ yard for the center panel 2/3 yard for bag lining ½ yard for inside pocket 3 ½” x 11 ½” piece of fabric for flap closure Low loft batting or Soft and Stable – one piece 20” x 30” and one 4” x 7” piece 1 ½” piece of Velcro or 1 magnet set for flap closure 1 button for flap decoration 1 1/8” to 1 ¼” is a good size Sewing machine with cord, foot pedal, various feet (walking foot or even feed foot) Book that comes with your sewing machine Machine needle 80/12 sharp or topstitch Thread to match fabric Pins Rotary cutter Ruler to cut fabric Scissors Any other basic sewing equipment
Prior to class Purchase your class materials Read over the pattern Cut the following from your fabric choices: Outer Panels – 2- 7” x 26” pieces the center 1- 5” x 22” piece Handles – 2 – 6” x 26” Hold on everything else.
