November 2015 My Fellow Knights, First and foremost, please join me in congratulating our extraordinary women’s soccer student-athletes and coaching staff on their 2015 Northeast Conference Tournament Championship. I could not be more proud of our women’s soccer program this season. After a remarkable season last year, which included the NEC Regular Season Championship, their first-ever postseason victory, and an appearance in the NEC Championship game, our women’s soccer program returned even hungrier this season. Our team claimed the conference’s regular season title (8-0, 16-5) for the second straight season and the third time in the program’s 16-year history. The sixteen wins overall and the current 12-game win streak are both program records. I am equally as proud that Fairleigh Dickinson Athletics earned the right to host the NEC Tournament at University Stadium for the second straight season. After securing the program’s first NEC Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth with a 1-0 win over Robert Morris, our women’s soccer team will travel to No. 2 seed Rutgers in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament. The game is scheduled for Friday, November 13, at 7:00 PM in Piscataway, New Jersey. I challenge all of our alumni and friends to come out and support our Knights on their NCAA Tournament run. The college basketball season is one of my favorite times of the year. Over the next four months, our men’s and women’s basketball programs will compete at a high-level in hopes of making it to postseason play in March. Both programs open their seasons this weekend. Men’s basketball will travel to nationally ranked Villanova (#9/#11) for their season opener before they return home to play FDU-Florham. After their NEC Tournament appearance last season, women’s basketball opens their season at home against Manhattan before traveling to compete in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge vs. North Carolina, Yale, and Iona. It will be an exciting start for both programs as they compete against some elite college basketball programs. During this season of giving, I kindly ask you to remember Fairleigh Dickinson Athletics. Without the support of our loyal alumni and friends, our mission to provide an elite student-athlete experience would not be possible. I recognize that your investment is a strong statement of the active and meaningful role that you play when determining the success of our athletics programs. Your generosity is paramount to our success today and in the future. On behalf of all our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators here at Fairleigh Dickinson, we would like to wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving! As always, thank you for your continued support of Fairleigh Dickinson University Athletics and I look forward to seeing you all this Friday night when our women’s soccer team plays at Rutgers! Go Knights!
