FABRIC REQUIREMENTS 1 Cheddar and Indigo Fat Quarter Stack (FQ-4890-18) 17/8 yards (1.75 m) blue main (C4890 Blue) 2 yards (1.85 m) cream leaves (C4894 Cream) 1½ yards (1.4 m) cream wish (C4895 Cream) Binding ¾ yard (70 cm) Backing 51/8 yards (4.7 m) CUTTING REQUIREMENTS Please read instructions first before cutting. Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Fat Quarter Stack Cut 6 squares 5¼” x 5¼” and 14 squares 3” x 3 from blue main. Cut the 5¼” squares twice diagonally to make 24 small triangles. Cut 3 squares 5¼” x 5¼” from cheddar main. Cut the 5¼” squares twice diagonally to make 12 small triangles. Cut 2 squares 47/8” x 47/8” from cream main. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 4 large triangles. Cut 2 squares 47/8” x 47/8” and 16 squares 3” x 3” from blue vine. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 4 large triangles. Cut 3 squares 5¼” x 5¼” from cheddar vine. Cut the 5¼” squares twice diagonally to make 12 small triangles. Cut 4 squares 47/8” x 47/8” from cream vine. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 8 large triangles. Cut 32 squares 3” x 3” from blue small floral. Cut 6 squares 47/8” x 47/8” from cheddar small floral. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 12 large triangles. Cut 3 squares 5¼” x 5¼” and 16 squares 3” x 3 from blue petals. Cut the 5¼” squares twice diagonally to make 12 small triangles.

Fat Quarter Stack (Continued) Cut 4 squares 5¼” x 5¼” and 6 squares 47/8” x 47/8” from cheddar petals. Cut the 5¼” squares twice diagonally to make 16 small triangles. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 12 large triangles. Cut 8 squares 47/8” x 47/8” from cream petals. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 16 large triangles. Cut 32 squares 3” x 3” from blue leaves. Cut 8 squares 3” x 3” and 30 squares 2½” x 2½” from cheddar leaves. Cut 6 squares 47/8” x 47/8” from cream leaves. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 12 large triangles. Cut 32 squares 3” x 3” from blue wish. Cut 1 square 5¼” x 5¼” and 6 squares 47/8” x 47/8” from cheddar wish. Cut the 5¼” square twice diagonally to make 4 small triangles. Cut the 47/8” squares once diagonally to make 12 large triangles. Blue Main Cut 8 strips 6½” x WOF for Border 1. Cut 1 strip 3” x WOF. Cut the strip into 10 squares 3” x 3”. Cream Leaves Cut 3 strips 4½” x WOF. Cut the strips into 20 squares 4½” x 4½”. Cut 5 strips 2½” x WOF. Cut the strips into 80 squares 2½” x 2½”. Cut 13 strips 3” x WOF. Cut the strips into 160 squares 3” x 3”. Cream Wish Cut 17 strips 2½” x WOF. Cut the strips into 49 rectangles 2½” x 12½” for sashing. QUILT ASSEMBLY Refer to quilt photo for placement of fabrics. Blue Cheese Block These instructions are to make 1 block. Refer to Quilt Center Diagram for fabric placement as each block is a different combination of fabrics. Sew 2 assorted print small triangles to 2 opposite sides of the cream leaves 4½” square. Press. Sew 2 more assorted print small triangles to the 2 remaining opposite sides to create Unit A.

Unit A

Blue Cheese Sew 2 assorted print large triangles to 2 opposite sides of Unit A. Press. Sew 2 more assorted print large triangles to the 2 remaining opposite sides to create the Center Unit.

Sew a Unit D to the top and bottom of Unit C to complete the Blue Cheese Block. Repeat to create 20 Blue Cheese Blocks.

Center Unit

Blue Cheese Block

Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of 8 cream leaves 3” squares. Place the cream 3” squares on top of 8 assorted print 3” squares. Sew ¼” on each side of the drawn line. Cut on the lines to make 16 Half Square Triangles. Press. Square up the Half Square Triangles to 2½”.

Posts and Sashing Refer to Quilt Center Diagram for sashing and post placement. Sew a cheddar leaves 2½” square to a cream wish 2½” x 12½” rectangle. Repeat to make a row with 5 posts and 4 sashing rectangles. Make 6 post and sashing rows.

Half Square Triangle

Blue Cheese Block and Sashing Refer to Quilt Center Diagram for Blue Cheese Block and sashing placement. Sew a cream wish 2½” x 12½” rectangle to a Blue Cheese Block. Repeat to make a row with 5 sashing rectangles and 4 Blue Cheese Blocks. Make 5 block and sashing rows.

Referring to the quilt photo, sew 4 Half Square Triangles together to create Unit B. Repeat to create 4 Unit Bs.

Quilt Center Assembly Refer to Quilt Center Diagram for row placement. Sew rows together to complete the center of the quilt.

Unit B Sew a Unit B to the right and left sides of the Center Unit to create Unit C.

Border 1 Side borders should be 72½”. Top and bottom borders should be 70½”.

Unit C Sew a cream leaves 2½” square to the sides of the 2 remaining Unit Bs to create Unit D.

Unit D

Border Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew border strips together end to end if necessary to get the length needed. Sew side borders first.

Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind with your favorite Penny Rose fabric from the Cheddar and Indigo Collection. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt.
