6 April 2016

There were 1,321 businesses registered in Buckinghamshire in the first quarter of 2016, according to Companies House. Only eight of the 39 Local Enterprise Partnerships bettered England’s rate of new company registration, with Buckinghamshire ranking 12th, with 31.7 registrations for every 10,000 residents aged 16 or over. Buckinghamshire ranked 4th among county council areas behind Worcestershire, Hertfordshire and Surrey. The number of companies registered in Buckinghamshire between January and March was 279 (26.7 per cent) higher than in the last quarter of 2015 but 58 (4.3 per cent) lower than in the first quarter of 2015. While the most new businesses among Buckinghamshire’s districts were registered in Wycombe (433), South Bucks recorded the highest registration rate at 48.3 for every 10,000 residents, the 43rd highest of all 380 local authorities in Great Britain and 19th highest outside London. No other Buckinghamshire district bettered the national registration. Chiltern recorded the 84th highest rate of all local authorities in Great Britain with 32.8 registration per 10,000 adult residents, ahead of Wycombe (31.1, 97th) and Aylesbury Vale (25.5, 138th).
