January 10, 2018 Newsletter Dear Called One,
2017 Contribution Statements are available in the sanctuary vestibule. Please check your statement against your records and call the church office if you have any questions or concerns.
Memorials have been received from the Come and See Sunday School class, the Food Committee, and others in memory of George Martin.
Please be in prayer for the Westview Youth as they participate in a Discipleship Now weekend January 19-21. Pray for their faith to be deepened as they work on missions projects, participate in Bible studies, and worship together.
Last week we discovered the creative purposes of God became very personal as we embraced that Jesus, our Savior, was there with God in the beginning. In fact, the Apostle John acknowledged that all things were made through Jesus. As difficult as this is to absorb, it gets even better. His creative purposes go beyond the creation in the physical to the spiritual. What if we all would fully join Him in the journey He has purposed for us? Imagine what this would look like for a moment. The fact is that He is calling us to join Him. How will we respond? In the Scripture this creative purpose of Jesus goes in full force as He begins calling people to follow Him. It certainly is easy to rationalize that the living Lord was speaking to these people in His own flesh. Yet, we see that Phillip goes and tells Nathaniel about Jesus as the one they had long expected to come. Rather than refute Nathaniel’s response or give a long explanation or defense, Phillip simple invites him to “come and see” for himself. Nathaniel goes to see Jesus even though he had reservations. As Jesus reveals Himself to Nathaniel, he is blown away at Jesus’ insight of Nathaniel. Jesus immediately purposes His creativeness within Nathaniel and begins a journey like no other. Come join us as we invite Jesus to share His creative purposes within us this Sunday. What do we have to do to get ready, are we set, so that when Jesus calls we are ready to go? Is that what Nathaniel and others did as Jesus called them into His creative purposes? Was it Ready-Set-Go? I look forward to sharing the biblical perspective in the message “Go-Set Ready” of our response to the One who knows everything about us. May we all be stoked by the Holy Spirit to walk in our calling! (John 1:43-51) Blessings. Yours in Christ, Rick
