JWC COMMENTATORS NOTES (contd) History France came 6th in 2008 and 5th in 2009, whilst Argentina finished 8th and 11th respectively. This is the third time that the two sides have met in the IRB Junior World Championships. France beat Argentina 30-6 in the semi final play off for 5th place in 2008 and will be looking to make it three wins out of three after their win in the Pool stages this year when outside centre REMI LAMERAT scored two tries, with further scores by JEAN SOUSA and ALEXI BALES. GILLES BOSCH also kicked 11 points for the French, whilst hooker TOMAS BARAVALLE and flanker TOMAS DE LA VEGA scored two of the Argentina tries.
Experience France have two players in the starting line up on Monday who played in the 2009 IRB Junior World Championships in Japan; outside centre REMI LAMERAT and left wing JEREMY SINZELLE. Only two French players have started all five matches in this tournament; lock forward JEAN SOUSA and flanker TANGUY MOLCARD. Only two of Argentina’s squad were involved in last year’s tournament; flanker TOMAS DE LA VEGA and captain ALAN KESSEN, who starts at number 8. For Argentina, outside centre MATIAS MASERA and left wing FERNANDO DARIO LUNA are making their first appearances in the starting line up. The entire back row of GONZALO VILA, TOMAS De La VEGA and captain ALAN KESSEN have started every match in this tournament along with scrum half SANTIAGO MENDEZ, fly half IGNACIO RODRIGUEZ MUEDRA and inside centre FEDERICO HAUSTEIN.
Hot streaks Argentine flanker TOMAS DE LA VEGA has scored a try in four of his last six IRB Junior World Championship games, including the match against France in the group stages. Replacement back row forward for France, ANTOINE ERBANI has scored three tries in the two matches when he has been selected in the starting line up in this tournament.
The man in the middle PETER ALLAN of Scotland takes charge of this game. The 35 year old is taking part in his second IRB Junior World Championships after officiating in three games in 2009 and this will be his fourth game of this year’s tournament. Mr. Allan refereed Argentina against Wales in the play off semi final and that was the first time in six JWC matches that he did not show a yellow card. He has produced one red and seven yellow cards in his six matches overall.
