Christmas Break

December 25

Merry Christmas

We have several coats left here daily, please put your child’s name in his/her coat. There are several coats in the auditorium. Coats not picked up will not be kept at the school for a long period of time. It is not the schools responsibility to keep up with lost coats. Wewould like to remind parents of our school time. School begins at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 3:30 P.M. Please make it a priority to have your child here on time. If class is interrupted by children entering the room late other students are distracted. The district provides a free breakfast for all students. They need to be here on time to make sure they all receive a good breakfast to start the day. It is vital they are here on time. Please be considerate when coming into the building early to pick up students. School does not end until 3:30-students are in transition and we are placing them in the appropriate lines to be picked up or ride the bus. It interrupts the process if we have parents wanting to beat the traffic. Please do not make it a habit of picking your child up early. As principals we are required to be aggressive toward student attendance-whether they are absent, tardy or leaving early. Please display your “Name Tag” when going through the pick-up line. Stop by the office if you need a “Car Name Tag”.

From the Nurse's desk....

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope everyone’s families are having happy holidays this year! We have seasonal flu to contend with for the next couple of months, but I think the good practices of hand washing, covering coughs, and cleaning will help make this a better flu season. I appreciate the teachers and staff for all their hard work in helping to contain the recent flu outbreak. Keep up the good work! We will start head checks after the Christmas break. Parents, start checking your children now for head lice. You are looking for small brownish insects on your child's scalp. The nits or eggs they lay are glued to the hair shaft and are very difficult to remove. They are whitish and tear drop shaped. If you find either one of these in your child's hair, they must be treated and removed before the child can come back to school. There are many, many treatments out there on the market as well as home remedies. Do some research and find which one is best for your family. If you have any questions, you may call me at 564-0904. I will also be starting follow-up calls for those children who were referred to an optometrist by Prevent Blindness. If you received a letter in the mail notifying you that your child did not pass the vision test, please have them checked by their optometrist as soon as possible. If they have been checked, please call me and let me know. A report must be sent to Prevent Blindness by January regarding those referrals. Thank you for your help and cooperation! Have a joyous New Year! Monti Walker, RN
