N EWBURY P ARK P ONY B ASEBALL General Board Meeting Minutes Borchard Community Center, Newbury Park July 25, 2017

1.

OPENING: Jason Kerns, NPPB President, called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. Those present are indicated on the table, as well as guests: Josh Mellinger, Travis Crandall, Dan Rocha and Shaun Foos.

2.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Lou Shubin made a motion to approve the May minutes. The motion was second and approved as presented.

3.

2017-18 BOARD POSITIONS: Jason Kerns confirmed executive board members who were interested in returning for the next year. Following was a discussion of potential open board positions, particularly the player agent position.

4.

ALL-STAR SEASON WRAP-UP: Jason and Lou Shubin will meet to review the end-of-year financials. Overall, it was a good all-star season. Our Pre-4th of July Tournament, which was an all-star fundraiser had a lot of teams participating. Darren Garlock brought up a concern that potential all-star eligible players were missed due to managers who did not send out information to their families. There was a discussion on whether the all-star participation form should be available to all players, and not just nominated players (as is current practice). Turning in the form does not guarantee selection to a team. It was also suggested that manager candidates for the regular season be asked whether they would consider taking an all-star season due to problems of finding allstar managers for certain divisions.

6.

LIVE STREAMING CAMERAS: Jason presented the idea of installing live streaming cameras at the DV fields, so that families and friends can view games remotely. If interested, suggestions include improving the internet capability and purchasing the better quality equipment. There was also a suggestion about selling advertising spots on the screen as a way to fund this service. Jason will get more info for further discussion.

COLT DIVISION: Jason has been in communication with other leagues regarding a Colt Division. Camarillo and West Hills are leading the effort on this. Currently 15u players are allowed to play in our Pony Division, which has brought up safety concerns. A Colt Division would pull them out of that division. The issue for our league is that we don’t currently have a 60/90

field; however, possibilities include renting the field at Oaks Christian from the City of Westlake or working with Camarillo Pony to use their fields. 7.

FALL BALL: Registration is open, and league email has been sent out. We will implement the new age change for this season even though a final determination is yet to come from PONY National. George will reach out to Agoura, CVLL and Moorpark to discuss the upcoming season.

8.

NEW BUSINESS: Darren would like to suggest changing division names from Gold and Black back to American and National to be consistent with our other local leagues. More discussion is needed.

9.

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m. by Jason Kerns. Minutes submitted by Tracey Huff
