Background Findings
On Monday, December 17th, 2012, the Plainfield Police Department requested the authorization from the Village
Board to purchase a new in- car camera system for the usage of Patrol vehicles. Currently, all of the twenty-one 21) patrol vehicles have been adequately equipped with the new in- car camera system. Since the inception of the implementation of the in- car camera system, the police department has had the
warranty coverage from WatchGuard. The police department has utilized the warranty on several occasions with a great amount of satisfaction and ease.
The price quote is attached for your consideration and review.
Policy Considerations According to Section 2- 43 ( 6) of the Village Code of Ordinances, the Village Administrator shall make a
recommendation to the President and Board of Trustees on purchases over the$ 5, 000 statutory limit. The Board
has the right to accept or reject any or all proposals. Financial Considerations
The warranty has been budgeted and approved under the Patrol Maintenance Contracts ( 01- 05- 51-8035) for Fiscal Year 2017- 18 in the amount of$ 7, 600. Recommendation
It is our recommendation the Village Board authorizes the renewal of the WatchGuard Digital In- Car Camera
System 4RE Hardware Warranty in the amount of$ 7, 600. 00 as outlined in the proposal dated Thursday, October 26th,
2017.
